Official Biomedical Sciences Interviews/Acceptances 2009

Anyone know anything about Northwestern? I interviewed with their neuro program a month ago, at which time they said they’d give us decisions in two-three weeks. I called this week to see what was up and they said decisions will be on the website this week or next. Does that mean I’m rejected?? I feel like if I was accepted they would just tell me or someone would have let me know sooner. :/

A friend of mine got accepted into Northwestern Neuroscience last Friday- they called him. If it’s a big program then you are probably still fine!

I got an acceptance call from Michigan PIBS today. :)

interview at Johns Hopkins MMI program! completely shocked - I thought their interview weekend happened already? Was emailed about 10 minutes ago.

still waiting on Michigan PIBS. Interview at Emory this weekend.

hey morningmist- which weekend did you interview at PIBS? Maybe I met you there.

aw crap. this isn’t looking good for me. but thanks for the info ymmit. and congrats on your acceptance to michigan!

I was wondering if anybody who interviewed at Baylor COM-MCB dept, received notification about admissions decisions.

bernardzhu,

I’d go with Yale, but that is just personal preference. In either case, you will probably have an amazing experience - depends on what you want to focus on, mostly.

Good luck!

yokel: in my dept a student has got offer from Baylor BCM (not sure if there is a “COM”)

Is anyone else waiting to hear back from UC Irvine’s INP program?

just got a call from USC PIBBS. telephone interview

Accepted to Emory and University of Washington. =)

The bf got an offer from Baylor COM neuro. From my understanding, they tell you within the week.

Accepted to Michigan today and U Washington yesterday. ymmit - when did you go to PiBS? I went Jan 29. And DNAdude, did you apply to MCB?

I went then too! But there were so many people… what program was your host?

ymmit: CMB was my host program.

I also got the RMF award. Has anyone heard of this?

roxannecellbio: I was accepted to the Genome Sciences program. And congrats on your acceptances.

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody went already for an interview at Mount Sinai. I’m an international student and I’ve just been invited. I’m really excited but have no idea of what to expect… The e-mail mentions it’s gonna be 4 interviews in one day, which sounds pretty harsh

Also, do you maybe have an idea about the acceptance percentages after being invited for an interview there?

Thanx a lot for your help! and best of luck for everybody during this period…

Hi Sahel -

Is it a phone interview? For in-person interviews, 4 is nothing… the most I’ve had is 9, and the least I’ve had is 3, in one day (but of the latter, it was six interviews halved into two days). The interviews usually last 30 minutes at most places, sometimes 45.

I am interviewing at Mount Sinai as well, in March. When is your interview?

Thanks DNAdude. When I was at the MCB interview they told us that MCB and Genome Sciences are the two most highly-funded, high-profile programs at UW. What did you think? I was really impressed with UW, but for me it was mostly because of the Hutch.

Tufts sent out interview notices two days ago, as well as MIT, which sent rejection letters.
