Official Biomedical Sciences Interviews/Acceptances 2009

mmphd, this happened to me too although not on the spot (one schools wants a decision in mid-March or they will release my acceptance and probably choose someone on the waitlist.) I have heard that this happens with not-so-stably-funded programs like some research hospitals not linked with academic institutions, and professors from my own school said this happens sometimes. However, I think that unless she really wants to go there, to just go ahead and let that school go.

Please please PLEASE…if you’ve had several offers and you already have a top choice and know which school you are going to, why not let at least some, if not all, of the other schools know as soon as possible? Some schools have waiting lists with people (like me) on them who really want to go to grad school (we all do!) and are just waiting to hear when a spot is available. Our lives are in limbo…can’t bear the thought of having to wait another MONTH before hearing anything :(

I cannot agree more with HTLV111…

Have any internationals heard from UT southwestern (DBS), Case Western (BSTP), and Northwestern (IGP)?

Leukemia

I’m international.
My classmate got an offer from UTSW in mid-Feb.
By the way, he didin’t have an interview.

I agree with HTLV111 too! I am on a waitlist and would greatly appreciate it if everyone notifies the schools they don’t want to go to so that people on the waitlist can get accepted.

WaYaDuDK,

I see. I emailed them and were told they would send all offers by mid-March…

What’s the stats of your classmate?

Does anyone know about the status on UCSD Biology? They put out a few acceptances last week, any more coming?

Leukemia, I went to the last interview weekend at Northwestern IGP and already heard back from them. I am not sure if they are still reviewing application for international students. I met some international students living in the US at the interview weekend, though.

Anyone has already signed their life off yet? :)

I just e-mailed my first declination of admission. It’s not a school anyone on this board has been discussing but I hope it frees up a spot for someone who really wants to go.

(Is declination a word???)

Sure, declination is a term used in astronomy for boring the hell out of undergrads taking astronomy 101.

Has anyone heard anything from the Weill Cornell BCMB program?

Since the interview that is

Hi everyone, I’ve been following the discussion on the websites for some time now and found it both extremely helpful and nerve-racking. I have recently completed the interview process and am now making my decision on the school I would like to attend and I just wanted to put up this information for the benefit of any future applicants.

Virion, I don’t live in the US. Anyway, it looks less chance now, but it’s OK. I am afraid of the weather in Chicago.

Anyone hear from Wash U human genetics program after interviews?

Are you serious leukemia??? The weather in Chicago would be balmy as compared to St Petersburg.

haha. I grew up in a place that never snows. I can’t imagine the weather in St Petersburg or any city in Russia in winter. I think I will die there. lol

Got my rejection e-mail from Mayo Graduate School tonight. Good stuff! Probably means the other schools must be close to making a decision.

Leukemia
He still keeps waiting for more admisssions.
Because he just wants to live with his girlfriend (Not in Texas).
