I was waitlisted for CIT… Kinda surprised that I even did that well. Does anyone have any more info about the waitlist, though? Should I accept to another college AND accept a place on the waitlist in the meantime, and will that hurt my chances of acceptance?

You can accept your position at another college and accept your decision at CMU. That way you will be placed on priority waitlist and have a better chance at CMU. You will lose some money either way though. That will increase your chances for CMU.
