**Official Class of '11 Decision Thread**

Yay. Congrats to all who were accepted! :]

Congrats to everyone, btw! (Sorry I can’t edit my post- I wasn’t accepted- but I wanted to add that I was in-state, English major).

I have two friends that got it

1)
student in academy
SAT- 1600/2400
GPA-2.8
SAT 2’s-Lit 480 Bio 490
Only 1 semester of Honors English.
Got into Theater Program

2) Another student in academy
SAT-1480/2400
GPA: 3.7
SAT2s- not sure, not very high
Got into Dance program

Proves that great dedication to somthing can work it all out.

Thats Bs!!!

admissions is a crapshoot

and getting into theater and dance requires something else–an audition

BruinsJEW,

I believe some luck is involved in any admission process. And name calling won’t change anything: you could’ve stopped at your “Thats BS!!!” post and you’re point would have still been made.

Yeah,

I have no luck. Even with a legitimate reasons for low SATs, I get denied from the two UC schools. And also my GPA was only a 4.1, b/c I had to drop my APs after I was diagnosed with cancer, during the first week of my junior year. I’m just a little frustrated as you can see.

people have to understand how crazy auditions are. Theatre, Music, and Dance students have to drive or some even fly hours to audition for a couple of minutes or hours. There are usually two to sometimes eight professors watching or listening to you perform. Same applies for art…students must turn in a portfolio showing off what is hopefully their best pieces. These students, including myself, have to pour in hours and hours of practice to get in.So while most of you studied hard…we had to practice hard. But i understand how frustrating it must be to see someone with such a low gpa get in. And there are definately people who get in with luck for performing and fine arts as well. No question about it.

here are my stats
uc gpa: 3.7
AP and Honor Couses: Geometry Honors, World History Honors, English 3 Honors, Spanish 3 Honors, Music Theory AP (score of 5), Currently taking:Statistics AP
sat: 1800
sat2: korean 750 math2c: 580 (yikes)
extracurricular: choir section leader and accompanist (4 years), asb junior historian, jazz band pianist and percussionist, accompanist for drama dept, playing piano for senior homes, csf, nhs, choir club, a lot of church youth group
Major: Music

BruinsJEW: I actually felt a little sad yesterday when I read you weren’t accepted into the UC’s… after reading your post #105, I am glad you were rejected and hope you stay in whatever state you are in!
How dare you put down people and their accomplishments on their day of achievement? How dare you name call and be-little people that were accepted to UCLA?
You should be ashamed of yourself.

^ who died and made u boss around here

Sorry,

I’m just having a bad day. Didn’t mean to take it out on you guys. But being rejected from your top choices is hard on you, especially when you were denied b/c of things that were out of your control. I regret not applying to privates like Stanford and USC.

^ i understand this feeling, but i wasnt talking about u haha

^

@ BruinsJEW, I can understand feeling angry that you were rejected, but that’s no excuse to take it out on other people on multiple occasions.

I GOT IN!!!when i check my cal admission status and i got in…then i thought it was an awesome day, then checked my ucla status and i was in too and my day got that much better.my family was hoping that i didn’t work hard and stay after school like every day(including weekends sometimes) for nothing. Congratulations for those of you who got in and sorry for those who didn’t. My friend didn’t and i really wish she did. She definitely deserved it and i really wish i could give her my acceptance letter and get her in instead.

gosh. if i applied this year with my stats from last year i dont think i would be here

accepted! whats up bruinsjew? why are you in this thread? arent you a bruin?

awwwww sweet ucla <3…

Accepted! :) (physiology)

I don’t get how some of you guys have weighted GPA of over 4.3 when there’s a cap on it? Wasn’t it like 8 semesters of honors/AP? or do they not do that anymore?

yeah… it really upsets me how people say i only got into ucla because i applied as an art major. art majors had to turn in a portfolio, write a list of extracurricular activities pertaining to art, and a page why we want to attend ucla arts. it sucks when people are putting you down when you should be happy…but oh well, what’s done is done.
