this whole month of december has been an escalating disaster

Deferred. :(

:(
:(

I’m sorry. =( Man, this is just kind of a last-man-standing game on this thread. Don’t forget to post stats in the just-stats thread for future generations of CCers.

last man standing is exactly it haha. are you still in firesoul?

I have to say Im shocked looking through this thread. I have seen a TON of acceptances that I thought should have been deferrals and a ton of deferrals that I thought should have been acceptances. I really don’t know how Michigan made these decisions; I suppose essays really do matter a ton. I will say though, GPA is much more important than a test score; four years of constant work vs. one saturday morning… However, I still think many with high test scores didnt deserve to be deferred for other reasons. I’m sorry to anyone with an unpleasant decision; you will end up somewhere good and Michigan does have a fairly high acceptance rate for initial deferrals (i think it was around 33%, could be wrong though) so there is still a chance. Those who havent heard, dont give up, there were some late acceptances last year too!

And yes, I’m still waiting. I set up a gmail filter so that it’ll text me if Michigan Admissions emails me…but I still have the Gmail tab open and frequently refreshed, just in case. =P

I am so confused and at a loss of words… got deferred with a 2320 SAT and 3.6 GPA…

this must be the cruelest way to notify students that I’ve ever seen, if the hypotheses are correct…
still waiting, LSA, OSS, by the way.

By now this is just frustrating

Wow, some people w/really high stats–top 3-5% of both SAT or ACT range and 3.6 or higher UW GPA getting deferred. Doesn’t make sense unless they are trying to weed out the “trophy collectors” who would not likely enroll anyway. But how do they know? Lots of kids in the top 3-5% might still choose Michigan (i.e. in-state w/ the great tuition break). Wonder if it is mostly OOS w/high stats being deferred, who they think might not matriculate? Of course we do not know what was in the essays or LORs.

I’m still waiting!!!

I was deferred too.

how do you set up a gmail filter?

Don’t forget to post stats, guys…

*OOS, not OSS haha sorry.

I’m still waiting too. I think we’re some of the only ones in here that haven’t heard.

Someone just posted on UMich’s facebook “Just got my email that i got in to the University’s Engineering! Soooo pumped and ready to leave Texas. :D”

Out of date, but you get the gist of it.
