<p>This is *****ing stupid. I have a 35 ACT, 3.87UW GPA, A LOT of EC’s, 2350 SAT.</p>

<p>I’ve been deffered. Honestly thought I would be rejected so I’m feeling pretty good right now. Now I know I need to work my ass for finals this week, get a good seventh semester transcript, possibly ask for a interview and just wait and see. Good luck everyone!</p>
<p>I was deffered with a 3.0 gpa (unweighted) and 4.2 weighted gpa with a 29 ACT but a crapload if ECs and good recs. So for all those who have lower gpas don’t worry! Again, good luck!</p>

<p>I’m actually not upset at all because I was expecting to be rejected, and I’ve already gotten into my top choice for school. But good luck to everyone else. And does anyone know if they’re sending out acceptances today? So far I’ve only head of deferrals being sent out today</p>

<p>I know I heard that the supplement essays are critical to U of M. There have been ppl accepted to Harvard and Princeton but rejected from Michigan. The reason being that no matter what your stats, if your supplemental essays are horrible and make them think the only single reason you applied is because they were your backup and on commonapp and that you have no interest in actually attending, they will not take you.</p>

<p>Obviously Michigan is looking for the “right mix of students” out of a plethora of qualified candidates. High scores do not do it alone is the message being sent. Makes you wonder though, why you work your rear off so hard in H.S. Is it better to have skated by and done something really interesting or adventurous or quirky w/your life? And to all those parents who have pressured their kids to get 4.0 GPAs and near perfect SATs–would it have been better to raise an artist or someone wanting to take a gap year or fund a business venture for them instead of the first year of college and see how that might have progressed?</p>

<p>to all those deferred who were not asked for 7th semester grades or additional information this is a GOOD thing! this puts you ahead of the other deferred students and you will most likely get accepted before them. if you were not asked for additional info it means you were right on the fence and if someone withdraws their spot then you will be put in without needing any extra info. expect an acceptance soon if you were not asked for 7th semester grades.</p>
<p>@stewta Well that’s at least a little reassuring. I think my CA essay and Communities essays were both pretty strong and my Why UMich was decent.</p>
<p>So I haven’t heard anything yet and I don’t want to be rude but I’m hoping outlasting these deferrals means acceptance… There is no way I can get rejected.</p>

<p>I have no clue what I’m going to do if I don’t get accepted. My safety doesn’t have the greatest program and I’m worried that I wont be where I want to be in 10 or 15 years if I go there.</p>

<p>Stewta, think u may be right. Essays do matter. The last thing they want to see is a generic essay that could have been simply reproduced for 15 different schools. If you have near perfect grades and test scores, then that better show up in the quality of your essays as well. Otherwise they are going to feel you didn’t really care enough to offer your best to the ADCOM and university. Or that this was simply a backup safety as you suggest, or a trophy to be collected.</p>
<p>I could transfer by loyalty is a big deal for me.</p>
