** Official Class of 2017 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

Those who got the decision on online system, could you tell me where the decision is?? What does it say exactly? I can’t find anything from the online system…

@slowdown Don’t worry my cousin just got in with a 27

@littlemeow If I recall correctly, if you’re deferred it doesn’t usually show up on WA because it’s not actually a decision so to speak. More that they are waiting to make a decision.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc: I know my stats aren’t exactly top-notch, but I guess the fact that I took advantage of what little my school offers worked in my favor. STILL CAN’T BELIEVE IT! AHHHHHHH!! Congratz to everyone else who’s gotten accepted, good luck to those who are still awaiting a reply, and those of you from the class of 2018…HI :)

My daughter applied in September, last name starts with a “B” and she hasn’t heard anything, and no news is posted on WA. We live in Los Angeles. 1 girl from her school, and others from different LA schools have heard - they’ve been accepted and deferred.
(Daughter goes to all girl school with 62 in her class. About 27 applied to Michigan!!!).
We’re nervous.
Good luck to All!

@dmc,

Michigan takes demonstrated interest into account. Your essays may not have indicated your desire to go enough. They might think you’re using them as a safety.

@collegeparanoia congrats!!

ACT:34
SAT:2400
GPA (4.0 Scale): 3.96
Instate

Deferred.

This was the only college I really, really wanted to get into :(

Those who are deferred: don’t be discouraged. Lots of people deferred in the EA round are accepted in the RD round. I’ve seen the e-mail they sent to GCs, which said they’re being “conservative” in acceptances in the EA round to leave enough places in the class for people who apply RD. That probably means the stats of those accepted EA will be somewhat higher than the stats of the final admit pool. And of course not everyone admitted EA will attend; as we speak, they’re losing some to ED decisions elsewhere, with still an entire second round of ED to come at many schools. They build all that into their model, of course, but because they want to play it cautious, they’re holding lots of places for the RD round, and you’re still in the pool.

I have been watching this thread for the last few days and finally got an account just to post this. Son was accepted to LSA. We live in Texas and he got his email a few minutes before 3pm our time (Central).

While this was a pretty exciting few days, I harken back to my own application process. UM did true rolling admissions so you didn’t have any idea when your letter would come. I think this email and CC stalking makes you all way too tense. But congratulations to all future Wolverines. GO BLUE!

[ *] Ethnicity: Indian (of the Asian Variety)
[ *] Gender: M
[ /list]

Others:
Accepted to Tulane and Florida State. Both with some sort of merit scholarship.

I want to ask though, did anyone hear anything about merit scholarships yet? Have they or will they post that online? and if so what are the awards given?

Those who are deferred, do you have a “view decision” option on WA???

Accepted into the College of Engineering!
SAT: 1930
UW GPA: 3.98
From Texas

I thought my essay did a pretty good job of showing what I liked about Michigan, and I was actually considering going there, not just using it as a safety even though I thought it was likely. Do they take into account any other kinds of demonstrated interest? I may not have been good on that (didn’t visit, etc… although it is really far away).

Deferred :(. I got an email, but there are no new updates on my wolverine page.

Anything??? I got nothing

Got accepted. 90.42 average, 2150, 32.

nope, they send an email however
