** Official Class of 2017 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

Still no dice here. It’d be nice if they only did acceptances/deferrals for EA, though I’d really like an email soon for either.

Still no word.

Has anyone received an email today? I haven’t received anything yet?

It is mindboggling how some of you guys got deferred! I was a bit shocked at my own deferral because I made it so clear that they were my #1 choice and I busted my butt to get the grades I needed. :(

@goblueLA I know this is weird to ask, but do u have connections?

or anyone that hasn’t received an email yet… do any of you have connections?

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: GO BLUE! Waiting on RD results, but I wouldn’t mind going to UMich one bit!

I… I’m heartbroken. I’m seeing all these absolutely unqualified people from my school get in for their GPA alone, and then I get deferred. I just…

Can someone explain this? Same ethnicity, same everything except:

GPA: 3.39
ACT: 35
EC: 3 leadership positions, thousands of hours of community service, scientific research
DEFERRED

vs.

GPA: 3.5
ACT: 31
EC: One sport or one club
ACCEPTTED

I know this is weird to ask, but do any of u have connections?

@Shady4pres Sorry to say I don’t know anyone who has anything to do with UMich.
@catsarecatsThey often accept people with “lower” qualifications based on the essays. I can’t back that up because I haven’t even gotten an email yet about anything.

@catsarecats Did you both apply to the same schools? My friend had a similar GPA and higher SATs and was deferred from Engineering, while I got into LSA. My essays were more thoughtful and edited than his, I do believe it has a lot to do with the school you applied to.

@catsarecats I think the reason is really just that they care the most about GPA by far. I’m actually surprised your friend didnt get deferred too with a 3.5

ANYONE… are they still sending out decisions today?

@Shady Yes. Decisions are still being sent. They said it would take longer that just one day.

I just feel like no one else is getting anything and I am one of the only ones left… and is there any chance that I get accepted on day 2

I have been reading these comments and this is what I have seen:

1 some overqualified students have been differed, but again that is because MICH does not believe they will attend. In this case I would just show interest if its your top choice, and you should be accepted early april.

2 EA acceptances do not look like they depended too much on standardized test scores, it seems GPA is what matters. 3.75+ have been the majority of acceptances, so if you were deferred really work on those grades.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE WHO WAS DEFERRED

p.s

I was accepted to engineering with 32ACT (32/36/33/27)/33 composite (Science 31) and IB Diploma program w/ 3.8uw.

I feel like I dont even have a chance anymore. I agree about the gpa thing anotherhser^ is saying. I have a 3.72 UW which already hurts me, and I purposefully applied to all of my schools EA so i could avoid sending in senior grades haha. I slacked so i have like 2 A and 3 B, but the B’s are in math/science and that’s my major… so no way they’ll accept me now  I dont know what to do.

@michlover… do you have connections to/at the school?

@MichLover You’re not alone, I’m not feeling so great either. Even though my GPA is 3.88-4.0 all 4 years of high school, my ACT score is far below the average (26, only was able to take it once because of time and costs). Don’t give up hope, people with 3.5 GPAs have been getting in too, oddly enough.
