hey guys i just received this email from columbia. did anyone else get the same thing? What they say in the email sort of conflicts with whats going on in this thread…

"Thank you for your transfer application to Columbia University. We are nearing the end of our application review and will soon notify candidates of our decisions.

The Columbia community is committed to environmental responsibility; in keeping with this commitment, we will provide some admissions decisions only online, not via regular mail. We plan to post all decisions online on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013, after 5:00pm (Eastern Time)."

The word “some” confuses me as well.

This means that they will only mail out acceptance packets, via paper mail, no rejection letters. Waitlisted students might also recieve letters via conventional mail. In my rejection last year they said something similar, along the lines of saving paper and the environment and such. Its all good.

@FinalEyes, so you are saying last year, there were students who found out they were accepted online then received the acceptance packets via mail?

Yes. This includes of course the official letter of acceptance and any other important documentation or information. Rejected students, however, received (in my case) nothing via paper mail.

I guess I’ll figure out after my orgo exam whether I’ll get another rejection or not :)

I have heard of some students hearing about their decisions already from Columbia. How does that work?

@finaleyes, thanks!
@moonman are you talking about those students who posted on this thread?

@Akawasaki: I read about them but am skeptical as it is the internet and you never know if these things are true. But I know someone at my current school who applied for transfer and was notified about 10 days ago. I’m now a bit confused because I don’t really know how the whole thing works…

@moonman: I see. was the student who got notified at your school accepted or denied?

Just got the full details, sorry to have confused anyone who saw. This person is doing the visiting student program not transfer! Sorry about that.

@moonman: oh ok that makes sense. I have a friend who is doing that program this summer and was recently notified as well!

I am so nervous. I just drunk a cup of coffee to focus on writing my final research paper. It will be a sleepless night anyways!

Someone from my community college told me she already got in in like late April! She’s a communications major. Makes me kind of worried because I applied too >.< Best of luck to everyone! I know it’s kind of a crap shoot but my heart jumped when I got the email.

Applying from NYU. Good luck to everyone! Today’s the big day.

@moonman676 Columbia College.

I’m going to try to have my mom get my Grandpa to take a picture of what exactly came in the mail if he can figure out how to do so (not very tech savvy) but according to him it was the acceptance package. Some of the comments in this thread have me concerned now though (though some others have heard back already too?). Also I applied last year and got in but did not transfer due to personal reasons.

Would there have been any other documents mailed from Columbia?

Rejected, congrats to all who got accepted !

4.0 GPA and rejected, what a joke.

Dude, u r funny.:)

Rejected!

If you were accepted, will you post stats please?
