@Connor2019 even my negative points are positive I’m so screwed If I don’t get in

@banana4 hey! i go to an international school in korea as well and i applied to the hotel school :)

Haaha sort of under-qualified applicant here… score wise. I read on another Cornell ED thread that a girl got into ILR (where I applied, ironically) with similar scores to mine, had lower grades than I do, but fabulous ECs… Gave me a bit of confidence, honestly. I just have to keep telling myself I can’t do anything about it, I guess!

@tblegend97 you have a stats page or anything? I’m an ILR applicant too

out of curiosity, how many of you hotel school applicants from international places are male and how many female? when i went to cornell i saw a whole bunch of asians, but not one indian person…im a male applicant from nj…it makes me worried im competing against super smart asians because i feel like compared to other asians im not as qualified and that there are more expectations on me to achieve higher

@khagedorn96 I do not. I got a 30 on my ACT… I’m on the really low end of Cornell’s range, but I have a fighting chance. Or well, had lol

@hotelieatheart hey another New Jersey person! Sorry I’m just coming out of nowhere haha

@tblegend97 Dude I was thinking you had like a 1700 or something when you said super under qualified. A 30 will not stand out but it certainly doesn’t kill you if your grades are good. I mean it’s a really good score. Only on CC is a 30 a super under qualified score (Bc kids on here are upset with their “really low” 34’s haha). With ilr it seems like if you fit their bill then you’re in, because it is such a niche thing. So good luck to you maybe we’ll be classmates. Maybe this will make you feel better check the ILR scores http://www.suny.edu/campuses/cornell-ilr/

@hotelieatheart I’m female

You kids are going to hit post #2015 way before Thursday! Best of luck toughing out the next few days.

Mom of an ED to CoE

@brooklynilene good luck dealing with your teenager for the next 4 days!

Pretty regularly on this thread we put down the thought of people EDing to Cornell only because they think that maximizes their chances of going to an Ivy… But maybe those people are smarter than we think. They aren’t making themselves vulnerable to a rejection from a school they truly love

@Connor2019 paranoid much? Sounds that way at least…if you could explain a little more that’d help

on thursday at 5:10pm I’m either going to be going crazy calling or my friends or at Baskin Robbins drowning my sadness in all 31 flavors of ice cream.

@khagedorn96 I FEEL super under qualified!! Reading all of these posts from previous years and "chance me"s really kills confidence, but it’s something you have to get over. My sister goes to Penn, and actually told me to never check CC because of the people complaining about getting 34s and 2100s (she got a 1920 on her SAT, and her ACT was like a 24, but she still got into Penn lol) but oh well. I agree, it totally is a niche! I talked to the admissions director when I visited back in October and he said I had a fighting chance, especially with my ECs (I work for an global medical non-profit… a lot of humanitarian work in 3rd world countries that i had to work for and couldn’t just buy my way in like Dominican trips, People to People, etc.) I really hope we will get to be classmates! Right now Cornell is just a dream… Can’t wait to get this Thursday over with.

wow, good job finding that ilr stat liink. i would never have thought to look up ilr through suny system…as you can see research data and analytics is a passion of mine lol

@tblegend97 that’s why I try not to read chance me posts. Most them are just people trying to boost their ego and I feel like a lot of them or fabricated anyways. They’re a waste of time.

@tblegend97 Don’t worry, I feel really underqualified too, because I’m indian, never did robotics (i’m applying to engineering), poorly written essays (?), not as high of SATs as i would have liked, no sports, no real high school focus, ok GPA, etc. etc.

We might still have a chance though :D, just got to keep waiting

@BPearlman97 ya unfortunately super paranoid tonight. And what I meant was, you know how it’s been discussed on this thread that there’s people who ED to Cornell just because they think it’s the easiest Ivy to get into and not because they actually love it?
I’m saying that perhaps that’s not a bad mindset to have. Because they won’t be as upset as us if they’re rejected. And if they’re accepted, then even though they might not feel the same joy we would, they’re still going to an objectively amazing school.

Or maybe I’m just overthinking it and should go to bed lol.

Im from nj too!
