True^^ but actually I have a fellow classmate who wishes that she gets rejected. Her parents pushed her to apply ED.

@AcceptmeED I know some people who applied ED but dont really care where they go, so even if its a small percentage, those people do exist

@jamesjunkers @acdc1272 do you know if anyone has analyzed last years posters for a rate? I might be thinking too highly of us, but I would venture a 50:50 shot. Most of the people on here did not apply because their stats are on the lower end and ED will boost chances, most are in the 75th percentile. Just an observation

The ED acceptance rate is a little over 24% at Cornell if you take out recruited athletes (228 students I believe)

Edit: That’s making the assumption all 7.0% of them applied early

@khagedorn I would say 40% just to be safe, it’s an Ivy League after all…

But once again, there’s absolutely nothing we can do to change it and stressing over it is useless, we just have to wait 4 more days

yea, that’s why i’ve been sort of trying to avoid this forum to like, not stress myself more lol. but im still nervious sigh

I guess the reason we’re all still here is because we’ve found other people who feel the same way we do and as an outlet to get some of our nervousness out, at least thats why I’m here

@acdc1272 I think some people probably have more than a 40% chance if they’re well qualified. but then again it’s an Ivy league

@Cornell19 This would all be easier if there was some sort of formula for college admissions…

@acdc1272 I wish haha. I feel like there’s no 50/50 or 70/30 chances tho. It’s either 100% or 0%. The adcoms want something specific and if you have it then you’re in and if you don’t then you’re not.

If i get rejected, I will go to school the next day, and pretending nothing happened until someone ask me on December 15th. I specifically don’t want my host mom to know, because she will come, hugging and kissing me in order to make me feel me better. I am afraid to refuse her love, but that love will make me feel worse.

omg same. if i get rejected, i’m just going to try to act normal and pretend like nothing happened.

I agree with @khagedorn96 about the average poster’s stats being around the 75th percentile.
I think it would be awfully helpful for us to know what rate of EDers with, say, a 34 ACT (75th%) get accepted…
Does anybody have an idea or a guess of what the number may be?

(And yes ik grades are probably more important but they are way too complicated to really compare)

@Connor2019 it has to be pretty high. Even with a 33 (which is the 75th for accepted kids) I would imagine that with above a 3.9 uw GPA and decent ecs that one would stand a pretty good chance and by pretty good I mean 50% or better. And I should also note that higher scores would be less useful in engineering and CAS where most have very high scores (or so it seems). But that is nothing more than a useless tidbit because I am either going to be accepted, rejected, or deferred and I am not going to know why.

did you guys fill out the part where it asked for second term classes?

^ I think I just put the same classes as my first term, because mine are all full-year classes.

Haha I know what you guys mean. I HAVE to get in because it’s my friend’s birthday the next day, her party and the school carnival (which I’m in charge of) over the weekend and a concert next weekend. Wow haha

@khagedorn96 ya I agree about it being pretty high. This website said 75th is 34, idk what to believe anymore lol

@khagedorn96 and I couldn’t find Cornell publishing admit rate by test score, I could only find it for a couple similar schooled… But for Brown RD they say 10% for ACT 33-35. Which in proportion to Cornell ED would be 32%… Which seems surprisingly low to me tbh. I would think it’s higher.
