Official Cornell Class of 2019 Regular Decision Applicants!!!!!

@byebyebirdy, no one can guess how many. Best to just wait it out.

Hey y’all! Fellow Cornell applicant here looking for advice.

So I got an email about the info session from a local alumnus, and I responded promptly that I would like set up a meeting. It’s been about four business days, and he hasn’t responded. Should I email again or give him more time?

@byebyebirdy‌ I’m not sure, but I’m just crossing my fingers. Especially since I got deferred ED lol

Email or call if he gave out his number. My daughter’s original reply went to his SPAM folder so be persistent. They have to close out their alumni reports by February 15th.

My D got in ED and she got an alumni email but he never responded to her, so luckily he left a phone number. Maybe follow up with a call if they are not responding to email.

So the info sessions have no weight in admissions at all? If it goes really well could it compliment an application?

Of course it could. But it’s really not doing much. They’re for you. Don’t stress.

@airspirit‌ Good Luck! I didn’t intend to apply to Cornell, fell in love with it at a point too late to visit and bombed my interview ugh. I wish I had done ED, even if only for a rejection

@byebyebirdy‌ You too! Don’t worry, the “interview” practically means nothing during the admission process.

Cornell is honestly my dream school. I applied regular decision for applied economics and management with ILR as an alternate.
My stats are 33 ACT (32M, 36R, 35S, 30E) GPA UW 3.96 W 5.2 class rank of 2/500.
Ill graduate having taken 14 AP classes getting A’s in all but AP Spanish. Ive been a varsity wrestler for 4 years a captain for 2. Have participated in DECA every year and qualified for the international conference. I have 300+ hrs of community service. Helped start a science Olympiad chapter at my school. I’m a chemistry tutor. Volunteer with a local library and at a youth wrestling program. I have numerous awards and honors. Do I have any shot? Ive been accepted in UNC Chapel hill honors, UPitt honors/MBA, South Carolina Honors (#1Honors college in country), and High Point Honors

@ivyhopeful97
Why do people with superior stats have to apply to the same program as me :’(

I don’t think I am going to get in sadly and ill be crushed when that happens

@jamesjunkers

@ivyhopeful97, it could be worse, you could have been deferred ED :’( :’( :’(

Hey being deferred is better than being rejected. Honestly though after reading all these posts I have no confidence in my applications anymore @jamesjunkers‌

@ivyhopeful97
Eh, don’t let the posts get to you. Throughout this year, I’ve deduced that half of CC is bs, 40% represents the top of the top, and the other 10% is kids like you and me - above average students who are reaching for the stars :slight_smile:

Like Im one of the top students in the city of charlotte in North Carolina but I haven’t had the opportunities some of these kids have had to like volunteer in a cancer lab or have an internship at wall street @jamesjunkers‌

The wait is a killer :’(

Yep we still have a month and a half to go @jamesjunkers‌

@ivyhopeful97, don’t worry too much about things that are now out of your control. You sound very well qualified and I’m sure you put together a good application. Good luck.
