@annwank Youre right it is out of my control! Just the long waits cause doubt to start to enter. Did you apply?
@ivyhopeful97 don’t worry! Same program too, ACT is lower than yours, haven’t had many opportunities. I’ll be crushed when that happens. On top of that, I’m an international student lol
@TanTheeeta, Yay! More AEM students to get in over me :’( :’( :’(
Is it possible to switch between schools once into Cornell?
@justinn76, as in like transfer for your second year. Yes, definetely
@jamesjunkers do I have to enroll in the school I chose when applying?
@justinn76, considering you have to be accepted to that school, I’d heavily assume the answer is yes…
One more question, is AEM significantly harder to get in than A&S?
AEM is typically one of the hardest @justinn76
Yep, AEM has an acceptance rate of about 7% as opposed to the overall Cornell acceptance rate of about 14%
@ivyhopeful97, my D applied and was accepted ED
@jamesjunkers Don’t worry man, Cornel is a reach college based on my stats alone. And I can’t write essays for shit hahaha! Chin up man!
@annwank what are your daughters stats out of curiosity
@ivyhopeful97, similar to yours testing-wise. 4.0 gpa unweighted; 4.6 weighted. Her class doesn’t rank but she’s probably up there like you. Peer tutor like you. Not as many community service hours as you though and not as many APs. (she took 10). No sports; her main EC is speech/debate with lots of success. She wrote some very good essays that helped show her fit for Cornell. But really, don’t read too much into other people’s stats. You can’t and shouldn’t compare yourself to others because it will drive you crazy. There really is no magic formula. As you can see on the ED stats thread there are kids with a range of scores, GPA, ECs etc. At the end of the day, adcoms saw her as a fit and hopefully they will see you as one, too.
@ivyhopeful97 ur probably gonna get in cause colleges are suckers for wrestlers bro lol
hey everyone does cornell email you about your acceptance or just mail you? also have any acceptances went out in the past few days? Secondly, whats the easiest school to get into? Is it the college of human ecology? and whats the acceptance rate for cohe?
@valed123
For ED, we were given an account to check our decision on, I’m assuming they will have a similar process for RD. Acceptances are then mailed to applicants
There is a common Ivy decision day in which all Ivy league schools (Cornell included) release decisions. It is usually on or slightly before March 31. No decisions will go out before then. Exceptions include specific Cornell schools (Hotel and ILR, I believe) which sometimes notify applicants earlier.
That would depend entirely on what you’re fit for. For a student who hasn’t taken Calculus nor Physics, it will probably be hard to get into engineering, but they may have a lot of hospitality experience, making them a good fit for the Hotel school. By acceptance rate alone, the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (inside CALS) has the lowest acceptance rate (~7%).
I’m not sure if acceptance rates are posted for each school, but if they are, you can Google it just as easily as I could.
When are notifications for ILR regular decision?
Does Cornell have a notification date or do they just randomly release them one day? Also do all ivy leagues release decisions on the same day?
@ineversleep: see post #276 (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18084130/#Comment_18084130)
The exact date will be revealed when we get closer. I believe it was either 3/27 or 3/28 last year.
