Not true. Financial aid and admissions are completely separate, hence the term need blind. They calculate financial aid for all applicants - the 2400’s and the 1300’s. If you didn’t get a financial aid email, it’s probably because you didn’t need to send anything else and/or they had no reason to send it to you. Stop worrying guys. You’ll find out soon enough.
** Edit - my response was made before @justinn76 made his comment - the not true was not in response to him, he is correct **
@jamesjunkers, you have sent so many helpful responses, you seem like such a nice person, just wanted you to know I’m rooting for you!
@Renomamma: Thank you so much! I guess it’s just that I’ve been in love with Cornell for four years - and I’ve been waiting 5 months now for my decision (deferred ED); I think I’ve researched enough to know everything a potential student can actually know, lol. Good luck to you too!
I’m a mom of a freshman who got in ED (she loves it) …this site is just addicting, but I’ll stop checking it in a month or 2. I’ve learned almost everything I know from CC! Haha. I hope you get in, but I’m sure you have back-ups you’d be happy to attend as well. Theyll be lucky to have you, wherever you go. Sometimes it seems like such a crapshoot. The wait is ridiculously long.
yea…except i haven’t sent in all my financial aid materials yet, so i probably should’ve gotten an email.
Just to clarify I just wanted to let you all know that if you hadn’t submitted your financial aid materials then Mar.20 seems to be the date of you want to receive a response on Apr. 1. I didn’t mean to scare you guys, no where in the email did it mention anything about my admissions decision so that just corroborates @jamesjunkers information! Again good luck to everyone, everything will be fine
I’ve been accepted to ILR and haven’t recieved anything about financial aid, if it helps. I don’t think all my stuff is in either. I imagine they email in batches as they go through everything
Does anyone have a blank in FINANCIAL AID --> TO DO LIST section on their portal? Up until last week or so, I had a list of things that said “FAFSA received”, “CSS received”, etc., but now there is nothing. Does anyone have the same problem?
@kayture Yeah I think that I blank just means that you have nothing left to do for financial aid and they have received everything
@byebirdy Congratulations on getting into ILR! What state were you from the btw? I am from the west cost. I still haven’t heard yet (and nonone I know around here has heard yet). Still waiting…
@yoshi105 Do you have the same scenario in your portal?
Hey guys do you think it would be stupid if I called ILR admissions and asked if they sent out a letter in my name. I don’t want to sit here waiting for some letter that I may or may not get…
@yoshi105 Personally, I would wait until March 31st or so. It could be that they send out your ILR decision later. If there’s no letter around that date, you can probably contact them about it.
I’m from the West Coast as well (NorCal)
Thanks @darkray2000 for the advice. I appreciate it. I really want to go to ILR so badly. I thought I had good shot. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
@yoshi105 No problem! I really want to get in as well. I applied for Philosophy at CAS, so I have to wait until the 31st. I can’t believe I submitted it beginning of November, and a lot of my classmates are getting into really good schools.
I know right. Hopefully this whole process turns out well for both of us.
Crossing my fingers
We’ll make it through this torturous time!
Btw for anyone who’s wondering, I emailed ILR and they said that this will be the only wave of early admissions. The rest will be released on Ivy Day. However, if you’re an URM, I think they might be releasing likely letters around next week-ish.
