Thank you everyone. The fact that I was able to impact others is truly astonishing - I had no idea. Though this rejection will sting for a while, I will move on. I will be happy. And I will succeed. Congratulations to those accepted, and I’m so sorry to those rejected, I truly feel your pain.

ACCEPTED, this is truly amazing since my test scores were pretty low

@jamesjunkers I want to tell you a story. I know a young man, a family friend, who is now 28. His dream was Brown. He was at the top of his HS class, great SAT scores, fabulous person, yadda yadda. He was deferred from ED. Then he was rejected from Brown. Utterly devastated. He went to a small LAC that is a far cry from Brown—not even on CC’s list of “top” LACs.

Turned out that his entire future was set on an amazing course because of going to that LAC. First: He got an internship that he couldn’t have gotten had he gone to Brown. That internship turned into an unbelievable job—I mean REALLY amazing, one-of-a kind job working with very high-profile people. He can write his own ticket for the rest of his life because of this job.

Second: At the LAC, he met the woman he’s marrying. Obviously, he would have met someone else at Brown or elsewhere, but once you meet that person, you just can’t imagine being with anyone else.

So: Moral of the story is that if you capitalize on what your school has to offer, it does’t matter what school it is. You set yourself on a great course based on the opportunities available to you. Then when you’re 28 and you look back, you will not be able to imagine having done anything other than what you did.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you.

@jamesjunkers‌
All the good wishes coming your way from strangers today are a testament to the person you are and wherever you are headed, people will be fortunate to know you. Your words brought comfort to many over grueling months of agonizing wait and I hope all our positive thoughts for you bring you a measure of comfort too.

Wow, the trip is finally over; I was accepted to Cornell, my dream school. All I have to say is that admissions is a crapshoot. I was rejected at many other schools I felt were not as tough as Cornell and waitlisted at school I felt were a lot tougher than Cornell. Needless to say, you will end up somewhere great regardless if it’s Cornell or not. Please keep your heads high!

Where DID you get in? @jamesjunkers‌

@justinn76, I got into a few great schools. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be alright.

“A record number of admitted students this year – 1,605, or 25.7 percent of the admitted freshman class – self-identify as underrepresented minorities. In addition, Cornell has admitted its highest-ever percentages of students of color (48 percent), which includes Asian-Americans (more than 21 percent)”-Cornell University

Sorry I’m having trouble understanding the second sentence. Are they saying that they admitted 48% of URM’s including asians that applied? Sounds crazy

D was rejected. She’s fine with it. Other great options are in play. Congrats toothless who were accepted. Keep your chin up to those who were not.

When do financial aid awards come out?

@mmj133, I’ve been trying to find out the same thing. Hopefully sometime this week.

I’m pretty sure they will have something in the acceptance package once it arrives.

@jamesjunkers‌ Just wanted to say how appreciative I am for your efforts and help on CC, as well. I’m glad we both got the transfer option. I know I said I probably wouldn’t take it earlier, but it’s growing on me lol. Hope to see you at Cornell someday, but I’m sure you’ll succeed wherever you decide to go!

Thank you @airspirit
Im still sticking to the fact that I won’t take it, but things can change I guess

@jamesjunkers‌ I’ve always seen you around CC helping out people and I know that wherever you end up, you will be a great asset to the college community and you have an optimistic road ahead of you. Rejections happen for a reason and this goes for everyone that was rejected…it doesn’t define who you are and it doesn’t change what you’re going to do in your life.

Again congrats to those who were accepted because you will definitely have a difficult or a not so difficult decision to make.
