Official Cornell Class of 2019 Regular Decision Applicants!!!!!

@jamesjunkers‌ Out of all people here, I really thought you truly deserved a place at Cornell. I was a fellow AEM applicant too, and I haven’t forgotten all the help. This just really shows that admissions are a crapshoot in the U.S… Not so much in the UK lol.

<3 <3

Really hoping for decent aid. Only accepted to here and a safety so finances will probably lead to the ultimate decision.

Rejected. Congrats to those accepted

Congratulations all who got accepted/GT’d!

I was waitlisted from Hotel School. I immediately accepted the waitlist offer and I said yes to be considered for both the traditional waitlist and First-Year Spring Admission.

Unlike a lot of the people who got the guaranteed transfer, I didn’t get rejected, but waitlisted.

The letter is as follows

"Dear Janizary:

Thank you for your application to Cornell University.

We know that you are anxious to learn whether or not you have been admitted to Cornell, but we are unable to give you a final decision at this time. After reviewing your application very carefully, we are placing your name on our wait list for the School of Hotel Administration.

We ask that you let us know if you would like to remain on our wait list and be considered for admission should additional openings become available in the freshman class. If you would like to remain on our wait list, please complete the short form at http://admissions.cornell.edu/waitlistreply by April 10. You will also find important information about our wait list on this site.

We are sorry that we cannot provide you with a final decision now. Given our large and competitive applicant pool, the selection of the freshman class was a very difficult process. We appreciate your continued interest in Cornell, and we hope that you will choose to remain on our wait list.

In the meantime, we wish you all the best."

Do I still have a shot of getting in? I don’t care when or how, I just want in!

because they didn’t think u would go with your qualifications

This process stinks! My D is an applicant now and I have found it a daily up and down emotionally. She was accepted into Cornell and is clearly very pleased. However, as a National Merit Scholar has more attractive financial offers. Time will tell what she decides to do. However, there is more than one “right” school for every student. Best of luck to you!!

Yes would just like to agree that this whole process dies stink @momfrompa and though wasn’t a national merit winner took hardest IB course load in school had great ACT scores and GPA along with ridiculous leadership and CaS hours yet was turned down at all the ivys including Cirnell . Wait listed in a top school but from what I have read that is just prolonging the torture and have decided tinginto oddly enough the school I was happiest at when I first visited. Wish we had aced all the app fees not to mention hours of writing essays and just dedicated my time to a couple. I couldn’t have done anymore but I wish inknew going in that I didn’t fit their

Sorry for the typos. Hit the button by mistake and it is 5 am. Anyway now that I have rambled feel a little better. Truly hope everyone is happy with their choices and are ending up where they are meant to be. I know in my heart I am Just going to take some time to absorb the sting

I got garenteed transfer so I think I kinda got in. I am planning just to go to city college maintain my gpa easily then just transfer to Cornell. Basically I got into cornell 50%

@airspirit‌ I got the transfer option

Anyone asking for my stats

1820 SAT, 28 ACT
89.20 GPA

And yes, I got accepted

I was waitlisted at Cornell CAS but I’ve been admitted to another pretty good school already. Should I pursue the Cornell waitlist? I still really want to go :frowning: But seeing how large the WL this year, I think it’s going to be so unlikely

Accepted to CAS. I’m torn between Cornell and Princeton; everyone is saying Princeton because of the prestige but I want it to be based on the programs. And Cornell has a few language classes that aren’t available at my other schools :S Anyway, congratulations to those accepted and best of luck for those on the waitlist!

@nomorenails Same exact situation here… At first I was disappointed, now I just feel pissed off because I feel as if my efforts over four years have gone unrecognized.

Does anyone know what a waitlisting means? I’ve been waitlisted at several schools (Northwestern, UPenn, Rice, Cornell) but I was also accepted to Duke, so I’m confused as to what a waitlist means, since it seems pretty clear that I’m not quite ‘admit’ material to most of these schools but am more ‘waitlist’ material (I’m not trying to downplay what I’ve been lucky to get, just wondering). Thanks guys, this would help clear up some of the confusion I’m facing!

@predent It means they wanted you, but didn’t have room. If they get more room (i.e. fewer students decide to commit to them), then they’ll take a second look at everyone on the waitlist. You won’t know what they’ve decided till after May 1, so go ahead and put a deposit down at your # 2 college, but if they take you off the waitlist, you’ll have a spot. (and you’ll lose your deposit at your # 2 school). Most of the time it’s a long shot, but someone wins the Lotto every day, right? Good luck!

@Gatortristan

I think it means that 48% of admits are students of color.

@tlbphd‌ (once again clarifying) but what makes the difference between an acceptance and a waitlist? What makes me someone they want, but don’t put in because they don’t have space instead of someone they want but choose to put into the class (because of what qualities is someone accepted instead of waitlisted or vice versa?) and thanks for the advice!
