@pinkydinkydoo Hmm that’s a little strange… in all honesty I don’t think it’s good. But you have great subject test scores and luckily other factors come into play aside from test scores, so at this point just have hope!
And yeah I’m asian and my parents always talk about how where they came from the students would just be ranked by their scores to get in lol.
Speaking of being asian, did the other asians here end up listing that they were asian on their app? For some of my schools in the beginning I put that I don’t wanna disclose but yesterday I submitted a ton of apps and decided to put asian. It’s cause I heard that not disclosing hurts you more, but idk… for cornell, what should I do?
I put down Asian. My essay was on my culture so obviously I had to answer the question but honestly I’d rather be proud of my culture than try to hide it
@awesomekid I put down asian as well. no point hiding really. Eventhough I am not Asian by the American definition (which tends to limit itself to people who are of Chinese, Japanese or Korean ethnicity, really irritating for someone who is not either three), I think I will be equally hurt during the application process cos there are a lot of people from my country who are already in Cornell and a lot of people are applying this year as well.
And your parents are right. Asian universities dont give shit about your extracurriculars as long as you have the grades.
Let’s just hope for the best! We have tried our best!
Hey guys - the cornell blog says that the app was due on 1/2 at 11:59 EST, but common app says the deadline is met if you submit by 11:59 your local time. If I submitted at 11:56 pm PST, so it was 1/3 at Cornell, would my app be considered on time?
@justinn76, firstly it depends on what school you applied to. Some of the schools don’t require them and obviously care A lot less about them. But even if you’re school did require them, it’s still a holistic process, meaning a good score isn’t going to get you in and a bad score isn’t going to get you a rejection…
I submitted my application and writing supplement on January 1st. Cornell sent me an email with the application status check and they haven’t received my Writing supplement. Is something I should worry about or does it take a few days to process like SAT scores or transcripts?
Per Cornell on the application status page…"In mid-February, we will notify you if we are missing materials from your application and will provide you with an opportunity to complete your application. In the meantime, please do not send duplicate copies of your application materials.
