Does anybody know anything about the admissions statistics… Such as how many accepted/deferred/rejected?

Yale has them up for their’s, but I can’t find Dartmouth’s anywhere.

sneamia,

What are Yale’s stats?

Thanks.

I believe it was 882 accepted, 3000+ deferred, ~790 rejected.

A little over 1 in 6; it will be ridiculous for RD, like 1 in 12.

I am actually surprised with H and P dropping E altogether that Yale’s EA applicant numbers weren’t higher. It’s totally non-binding.

Thanks.

Shack,

On behalf of the Dartmouth ED Brigade, especially those of us who will be with you next year at D and fear you’ll be the same jerk in real life as you are on-line, we offer you this. Accept it, please, in the spirit in which it is given.

I know many others join me in this sentiment.

Um, you don’t have to be a jerk to find the constant metaphor a bit over the top. (If I wanted to be a real spoilsport, I would further point out that it’s a bit insulting to compare 2300 combined SAT score kids applying early decision to college with a few hundred men who made one of the most gallant charges in military history.)

You are absolutely right johnleemk, one isn’t a jerk for not liking it.

But one can also be a jerk and also not like it. Right?

If Shack’s only indiscretion was pushing back on me for my excessiveness that would be one thing. But he’s been a constant pain in everybody’s backside and, by his admission, has chosen to act this way under the cowardly anonymity of this forum.

Sneamia posted this in reponse:

Cool beans, huh?

Dartmouth’s stats:
1429 applied early (up 9%) from last year
28% (400) accepted including 65 legacies
37% deferred
35% rejected
This is the most competitive year ever for ED at Dartmouth. Congrats to all who got in and good luck to everyone who got deferred!

Thanks princeofhearth!

40% of the entering class of 2012 chosen in ED.

Conclusion
So it looks like it’s super hard to get in unless you’re in the hiiigh 2200s. But even if you are, you don’t have a semi-sure shot unless you’re above 2350.

Kristina,

I’d be weary of drawing too many conclusions from the data. It’s a pretty small sample size and you focus only on one variable. It is also based on self-reported data.

I am a bit of an outlier in your argument and I got in:

2190 - 710/740/740 White

Perhaps 2350+ does trump everything.

i seriously doubt that Dartmouth only looks at SAT scores

Mine is only 2150 but got in

You’re definitely the exception (at least among the CC population).

Actually, never mind, there were very few sub 2200s on any of the lists.

I got in with 2110 and a 3.4 GPA. White Male Mass, no legacy

damnnnnnnnn you musta written some killer essays or something

All about the athletics

What sport?

i got in with 2000 sats and a repeated sophmore year at boarding school… you can’t base everything on scores
