***Official Dec 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

So what was the answer? They both seem correct

@Castigations, although i picked “cultural implications of a biological phenomena” the answer is probably “scientific and traditional explanations of certain practices” because the passage goes beyond tradition and culture and explains some of the biological advantages to eating certain foods together to obtain certain nutrients.

Setting

For top colleges, if I get a score between 2200 to 2250, should I retake it?

I heard there is usually a really good curve for either the December SAT or January SAT because it’s when middle school kids take the test for some special programs. Does anyone know which one it is?

@johndoe5102‌ Tbh, anything 2200+ is amazing. Top colleges weight amazing ECs more than SATs. I recommend shooting for 2200+ to show your aptitude in certain areas that you might’ve not done well on in school (like 800 math makes up for an A- in a math class) because the one of the purpose of the SAT is to measure grade inflation or deflation. The January curve is usually the worst because the test is the easiest.

The curve is predetermined @johndoe5102 . The skill level/performance of those who take the test has nothing to do with how the curve is established.

I think its definitly biological phenomena because the passage was about being an omnivore, which is the biological phenomenaaa

Did we reach a consensus on whether or not the answer was no error or “which she …” This was from writing section and went along these lines:

" Before becoming an author, Ellen Oecher was a NASA astronaut who went on 4 space missions, which she logged over 950 hours as a space engineer (in).

The part I dont remember was whether or not there was an “in” at the end.

If you remember please PM me or just tag me in a reply.

@TheLastSAT I don’t believe there was an “in” at the end of that sentence. It was something like, which she logged over 950 hours as a space engineer and as a crew member (or some other job.) The correct answer should be “which”.

@TheLastSAT The error was “which”. It should have been aboard which or something similar. There was no in at the end

Are you guys 100% sure? @mizejonathan17‌ and @allista‌

yeah the passage was about omnivores at its core. It mentioned scientific stuff, but a very small amount, mostly the benefit and culutral impact of being an omnivore.

Scientific answer choice implies that the “practices” is the main topic of the essay and it’s not

How many no errors were there? I got two
The photographer one and the journalist one.
The " that petroleum reserves" was like A or B right. Change the has to have

there was a paragraph about different cultures and how they eat different things and it asked what the purpose of it was. I said A, which was to show the cultural diets. something like that

is that right?

guys we can search for the november 2013 test answers for US. then we’ll know everything

@i2400ezpz I’ve looked at their thread and honestly they struggled with the same ones as us, so I don’t know if it’d be of that much help.
I’m pretty sure about “biological phenomena” and sure about “social/cultural practices”.
I put “which” as the error, but that and the setting/attitude question I believe we won’t be able to come to a definitive consensus on.

@fireonice‌ wait which one was “biological phenomena” and which one was “social/culteral practices”?

@mizejonathan17‌ Yeah the error is which, should be where. S/o to Walt Whitman too
