Official EA Thread Class of 2014

I applied undeclared.

SAT: 2060 CR:690 M:680 W:700
SAT II: US History: 700 Bio: 650
GPA: My school has a weird GPA system, so I’m not entirely sure what my weighted and unweighted GPA are, but it may have been a little low.
Rank: School doesn’t rank
AP Classes: 1 last year (APUSH, the only one that was offered to Juniors. Got a 4), 2 this year.
Essay: Pretty good, but focused on design, which is what I applied for at most of my other schools.
Recs: Didn’t read them, but I know one was very good, and the other I’m sure was fine.
Counselor Rec: very good
ECs: In school ones are pretty generic, but I talked about writing for tech blogs and having a podcast.
School type: Very good and highly ranked Massachusetts Public school (not a charter or magnet school though).

Shoot, I applied undeclared too, ill probably be deferred as well. Ugh, well @benellis you can still get in!

i dont understand why they would defer you…im thinking maybe they thought you would obviously get into better schools which lead them to know you wouldnt attend there…why do you think you didnt get in?

Northeastern only accepts a limited number of undeclared students, and there is a large pool of undeclared students, so it is one of the hardest ‘majors’ to get into even though it isn’t a major.

My roommate was deferred from Wellesly for being over-qualified.
It’s not unheard of. I’m sure you’ll be fine in the long run.

Well I heard that if you declare a major you are more likely to get in rather than undeclared. That may or may not be true, I just heard that.

ANY MORE NEWS on when they will release emails/or post acceptances?

Some people have posted in the official decisions thread… I’m so confused.

@smart.cookie
what about the Political Science major??? I know that it isn’t one of NU’s most popular majors… does that mean that is easier being accepted???
Did any international receive the email???

any PA people yet?

@ cocufato: PoliSci is one of Northeastern’s less popular majors, and you are right to assume that it’s a bit easier to get into.

Applying undecided is a lot harder though.

Any idea how popular Computer Science is in Northeastern? Northeastern isn’t ranked that high for CS, so I would assume it can’t be that popular.

Thank you smart.cookie!
I don’t know why, though, because NU has an amazing faculty teaching PolSci!!! I hope to be accepted!!!

@holycrapkaytee: Yay a Lupe fan! Isn’t he just the greatest? Been listening to his two studio albums back and forth non-stop for the past 2 weeks, and I just cannot get enough of him.

@cocufato: I’m an international. Haven’t found out yet.

from nj, super anxious.
gahhh. i wish i had never checked cc haha :)

wait you guys are talking about lupe? isn’t he climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro or something? he.is.amazing.

haha agreed banjosaur, cc makes me more nervous!! And looks like i’m going to be frantically checking it until I receive my decision!

From last year’s thread, originally released by the admissions office:

“We are keeping the process as organized as we can on our end, and plan for all early action applicants to be able to view their decision by 9:00 EST. Best of success to you!”

@MoeMalik My Pandora has an entire station dedicated to him. Do you like Common?

@cocufato I know, right? PoliSci under Dukakis?!? Humanities nerd’s dream come true.

I think I might be the only person in MS who gives a crap about NU.

i applied to the music indsutry major. any one know the competivtivness on that? or also apply to that major? i have yet to hear yet and im in chicago
