OFFICIAL Early Decision Applicants Thread (Columbia Class of 2014)

where else are you guys applying? i don’t even want to think about regular schools!

senorpsycho Are you being funny?

Oh well, I don’t know the details but what I DO know is that Asians get the raw deal. Especially if you’re Chinese…they want DIVERSITY…bleh…wth

@columni: given how hard it is to get accepted to Columbia these days, I guess we just have to suck it up and work on regular apps.

Does anyone think the statistics listed in the link below are somewhat realistic?

[Columbia University - New York, NY](<a href=“Welcome schoolaah.com - BlueHost.com”>Welcome schoolaah.com - BlueHost.com)

^No. Just looking at the cost of tuition and fees on that website (more than 25% understated) will give you an idea of how outdated those numbers are. If you’re interested in current admissions data, check out the Columbia website:

Admitted Student Statistics:

Of schools that provided us with a class rank, approximately 93% of accepted students were in the top 10% of their graduating class; 98% were in the top 20% of their class.

The middle 50% of admitted students scored between a 1410 and a 1540 on the Math and Critical Reading sections of the SAT.

The middle 50% of admitted students scored between a 2110 and a 2300 on the Math, Critical Reading and Writing sections of the SAT.

The middle 50% of admitted students scored between a 31 and a 34 on the ACT.

what about the international percentages?

international admission statistics (ie how many people came from country X)? anyone have more updated statistics?

Yeah, and I’m finding it hard to believe that 49% of students are international.

no i think what those statistics might be saying are that people identified their heritage as X, Y, Z. YEa? hmm on another look maybe not…I donno what do u guys think’'?

Katy3028

I wasn’t being funny, I’m of Mexican descent, so I was wondering if my chances of getting in were higher, and by how much.

does any of it matter? you’ve already applied, so be patient. if anything, you should know that internationals probably enjoy relatively good treatment at the Columbia admissions office because of well…their dedication to achieving a globally diverse student body

ha yea good point. nothing i can do but wait. anyone else from australia applying to Columbia ED?

So I never thought I’d be this anxious or obsessed, but it’s starting.

I had another dream last night. A couple days ago I had one where I was in the admissions office, and another school was trying to recruit me. In this dream, I was already in, and Meghan McCain was trying to assign me to McBain Hall, but I just didn’t want to go. And I didn’t have any classes first semester. They were like, “Just enjoy yourself. You can start classes next semester.”

i had a nightmare about my nov SATs last night…

I got contacted for an interview and was surprised because i didn’t think there were interviewers in my area(Korea). I replied a bit late to the email(a couple of days later) but I’m sure it’ll work out?

For the ones who already had their interviews, what questions did you guys get? I’m sure I’ll be asked “Why columbia” and “tell me about yourself” things.

Yes, I agree that knowing more about your chances is not going to change anything and the only thing left to do is wait. And hurry up with other apps…which is a right pain in the rear…but it’ll be all over next month lads! We’re getting near!

We should know in about 3 1/2ish weeks

Heyy,
I’m from India, applying ED to CC!
Anyone know the exact date we get the admission decision

Oh! and do you’ll know if STANDBY november scores will reach Columbia on time.
I did mine and in the registration itself mentioned Columbia as a score recipient, but i’m getting a bit anxious.

I love how nobody’s answering anybody. Haha
CollegeMcDreamy, I think it’s Dec 15th? I’m not entirely sure though.
