OFFICIAL Early Decision Applicants Thread (Columbia Class of 2014)

i look like i’m wearing a wig because the conversion go pdf file kind of changed the clarity

i like my pic, its of me playing with my little sister
hopefully they wont think shes my child

My pic’s with two of my host sister and another friend from the summer I spent in Japan; it was in a hot spring, and right after we took the picture, my friend fell in and had to ride home on the train completely wet. :)

I’m posted up on the Eiffel Tower, though you can’t really tell. I look about 14 in the photo though…

^ i almost sent one of me on the eiffel tower

Does anybody know on what exact date do the decisions for ED come out online?

How important are senior year grades?
And does Columbia prefer a student with low GPA but high SATs or vice versa?

I think that Columbia prefers students with a high GPA and high SATs. That being said, according to Princeton Review’s *The Best 366 Colleges/I, Academic GPA is highest on a list of 13 items, and standardized test scores is 6th. And “Admissions officers take a holistic approach to evaluating applications; there’s no magic formula or pattern to guide students seeking admissions. One common denominator among applicants is stellar grades in rigorous classes and personal accomplishments in non-academic activities.”

Also, has anyone checked out [Main Page - WikiCU, the Columbia University wiki encyclopedia](WikiCU) It’s pretty hilarious.

I have been trying to forget about Columbia, for the meantime, in order to focus on applying to other schools. (Obviously unsuccessful) What schools are SEAS-hopefuls looking at? Cooper Union anyone?

lol, i didn’t send a picture. i don’t consider myself exceptionally attractive…

it’s almost december guys. we apparently recieve an e-mail soon telling us when the decision comes out. i’m excited. i haven’t been able to legitimately countdown.

AHHHH.

ED to SEAS!
did anyone attach a resume in the additional info section?
I feel like I’m the only one that only attached my AP scores…

My picture was of me with my torso off.

i sent a resume as well. my school requires it.
i didnt send ap scores though. i got 4s and 5s on everything except AP B physics. 2. enough said.

I attached my AP scores. I only did two last year, but I got 5s on both. I doubt senior grades are that important because not everyone will even be able to send them unless they’re on a quarter system. I’m on trimesters so I might get mine soon, but I’m not sure if I’ll rush them out, just because they may even be through my application by now! So weird to think about…

Photos! Haha I just put one of me, looking like me. I should’ve chosen one where I was travelling or something, but oh well! Like RunningOutOfTime said, it’s holistic. We can’t kill ourselves over one sub-par photograph or incorrectly chosen essay-word. They’re thinking big picture.

Hello Columbia’s EDer’s GOOD LUCK!
Could anyone tell how could I fall asleep easily since I am really worried about whether I could get into Columbia…
Besides,I did see a lot of Chinese guy here…

Hey guys I constantly check the 'Track your application" section, but my SAT scores never popped up on site. My TOEFL score is there, but even though I sent all my SAT scores about three times, there’s nothing. Is this normal?

REALLY?? I have seen my SATs…but nowhere to see my toefl. OMG…

Hmm dunno if this is a glitch. I did email them so well, they’ll figure it out.

i’m pretty nervous now…if there should be a section of toefl…

Hey we’re on a same boat snoopyoo… I didn’t know SAT section was there either.
Maybe you could maybe email them about it? I’m pretty sure it happens all the time.
