Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

@superpowers yup! where r u from?

for people still waiting, can you still login in the selfservice.admissions.cornell.edu to verify your application status? From this morning, I cannot which makes me think I got rejected T_T

@ggwp123

I can’t log in anymore either :(

Looks like we’re doomed.

@GregFields D:

Did u apply to CALS AEM as well ?

@Vitakka URochester is a wonderful school. That’s an awesome second choice! My second choice is University of Miami. And I agree about wanting to visit and everything first (which won’t be possible for me since I’m all the way in Florida), but I would still like to have more time to make such a big decision. Thanks for your advice. I will probably call again and try to speak to someone higher up the ladder to ask about getting an extension. I think I was just talking to some secretary. Regardless, if I get into Cornell (God-willing), I think I am going to have to make a decision before I even receive my financial aid package from them -_-

@talebi818 on your common application you had to specify which college you were applying to. Which one did you put?

@GregFields

Actually, some people last year were unable to log in to check their app status on the same day april 27th! And they got in after a week or so. Let´s be patient it is not over yet!

ggwp123 and GregFields I can’t log in either (applied to CHE), but I think it is just a website error because it wouldn’t even allow me to get to the page where I am supposed to type in my credentials. I definitely don’t think it means anything except technical difficulties :)

I was able to log-in to check my application status as of this morning. I doubt being able to log-in to that or not really means anything. As miami said, it could be technical difficulties and such.

@ miami + rux

yeah I think you guys are correct. I am just so nervous because my app has been reviewed a long time ago but I haven´t gotten a decision yet T_T

@ggwp Well, they say that appID’s are deleted at the end of the admissions cycle. So it’s possible that if it’s not technical difficulties, that they sent out all their decisions and deleted the appID’s for the applicants to that school. Which wouldn’t really mean anything, since you receive a netID when accepted, so it wouldn’t mean rejection.

And a second scenario if it’s not a technical difficulty is that all applicants sent in all their necessary information, so there wasn’t a reason to keep the appIDs.

Either way, it’s probably technical difficulties. If not, you shouldn’t worry!

Conclusion: don’t worry. :)

Yeah guys i called and they told me it’s not possible for me to switch majors/colleges :frowning:

Did i completely screw up my chances? Is it harder to get in the Economics program in CAS than it is for applied Econ at CALS? If I get into CAS can I switch to CALS?

Thanks

If you can get into Cornell, you can then switch colleges and or majors but after completing one semester at Cornell. Unfortunately you noticed this mistake far too late to switch it now, but if you get accepted then yes you can switch.

@talebi818 I’m sorry to hear that :frowning: Honestly CAS is more difficult to get into than any of the other colleges, but you never know. What concerns me, though, is that if you thought you were applying to CALS, then your essays were probably tailored to fit the CALS mission, which may confuse the CAS committee. And I read somewhere that external transfers cannot internally transfer :confused:
Are you a sophomore applicant? If so then you can always try again next year to enter as a junior!

@talebi

If I remember correctly, there is an option in common app that allows Cornell to place you in a different school if your goals do not fit the one you applied. Did you put yes for that option?!

i think I did put that i would opt for a different major if they offered it to me. My essays were not too tailored to the CALS mission except i mentioned Dyson i think once in the essay. I’m not too worried about it now cause i dont think i would have gotten in either way but thanks for all your helps guys, i really appreciate it.

I got into CAS!!! Logged into housing this morning…then called to confirm. literally speechless

Congrats! I’m surprised at all the people getting into CAS.

I haven’t heard anything from CALS. Omg. Can anyone call them. This is so stressful. :confused: I still have a hope.

@ mariobross

SAme here man! Please call them and let me know what they say XD
BTw I have called them before and they keep saying the same. CALS has a rolling admissions system until june.

I called them b4 n they said from now till June. I won’t heard back till may or June. I submitted my app the last day almost midnight. I want to know already bc I have another skol to respond by may 1.
