Official FALL 2013 Cornell Transfers Thread

Just my input…how would Cornell even be able to find out if an applicant has looked over the LOR? You figure, they barely have enough time to read them all let alone try and decipher the validity of the source and whether or not it has been read. In regards to honesty, I think that the selection committee simply checks to make sure that you didn’t go back and write the letter yourself (it’s really apparent if anyone does that).

Anyone hear from cals? Will we hear by letter or email? It looks like two people heard already – congrats!

Nothing from CALS yet. I think most applicants to CALS will receive a preliminary notification via email, and then by letter.

was fingazantoez a freshmen or a confirmed transfer?..seem to recall some confusion about that…got contact directly from HumEc admissions about a particular EC on my application about a week ago. And are all colleges sending emails, letters, or some combination of either for their decisions?

@yolocholo I’m a confirmed transfer, I got my acceptance on the 27th in the mail.

Congrats to everyone accepted!

I have a feeling this week is going to be a big week for decision notifications. I am so anxious I can barely get a good night’s rest!

For the chartered colleges, maybe.

Yeah the contract colleges start sending out acceptances starting April, and then they increase in frequency towards the middle of the month. CAS usually starts Mid-late April.

Either way, I am excited.

Is it true that the consensus for decisions is the more time that passes without being notified means the less of a chance you will be receiving an acceptance?

@Vspecter, no. People receive acceptances until the very end. I’ve noticed they save the rejections til the end, but that doesn’t mean you have less of a chance. What about all those people that are sent for review later in March?

There is no specific “chance” you have in admissions. The statistics don’t mean you have a 18% chance or whatever. You either are accepted, or not. Don’t think too much into it.

You know if that’s the case than I really hope I get my decision early, regardless of what it is. I JUST WANT THIS MISERY TO END

Lol Vspecter you need to take a few deep breaths and go take a walk. Get your mind off of this. Then hopefully one day you are pleasantly surprised.

I am not trying to brag, but I have put on close to 4lbs of muscle in the past 2 months because of how often I have gone to the gym to relieve this stress. Worse case scenario? Ripped out of my mind with a denial letter from Cornell? Eh. IT SOUNDS LIKE A WIN WIN TO ME!

By the way, does anybody on this forum lift? I totally want a work out partner if I get into Cornell haha

Go rage bud, enjoy your freshman year. I heard that when your decision is done (CAS and Engineering), you get notified regardless of the outcome asap. So if you don’t hear for a while, that’s probably a good thing. It means your application is being deliberated; most people who apply get straight rejected (read: the “desperation” apps), so if you’re still waiting just keep your head up and be happy about it.

In reality none of us have any clue, so I’m just going to be grateful to be at mendoza with all these amazing friends, study my butt off as I do, and enjoy my weekends. Maybe that attitude, instead of the “get out as soon as possible”, will make time pass faster, hmm? :)

@vspecter I also lift to relieve stress. I compete in powerlifting sometimes too.

Hey guys… I am new here and I was reading the past few pages and was confused. Has Cornell started sending out decisions? o.o Its mean it hasnt even been a month since we applied. Anyone if the school of engineering sent out applications?

I have been reading this thread anxiously and decided to join to the PARTY!

I applied for computer science in art and science college.
so here is my stats:

GPA:3.8(just one B) with 24 credits of university
4 years military service in Ethiopia
-I was awarded a presidential award due to an extraordinary leadership in the army.
This award was awarded for 120 soldiers across all military branches.
-start up a couple businesses.

It’s pretty much it!

My biggest concern is the fact that I wrote just one essay.Just because I thought that the supplement essay and the personal essay are asking the same question. When I called and asked the admission lady, she told me to submit the same essay for both-supplement and common app.oh well…

@DocRabbit

I am not sure if I am as strong as you, but we should totally lift together if we both get in! I do more crossfit/HIIT stuff but we could definitely hit the gym together!
