Have any of you been in contact with SHA? I called weeks ago and they said I should know soon but didn’t hear anything. I don’t want to be annoying/obnoxious and keep calling, so if you guys have heard any updates let us know!

@genheals2 I called two days ago and they said that it can take until mid june and this is normal. I pokered a bit and turned down my third choice uni, which I had to notify by today…

To everyone who is still waiting for a decision, may the odds ever be in your favor; to everyone who has been accepted, congratulations on your feat; to those who didn’t get in, you are stronger and smarter than you can imagine -GOODLUCK!-.

Hey guys, CAS international applicant here. I am applying as an Econ major, and was wondering why my decision was not coming out (I still cant retrieve my PIN number on applyyourself.com yet). Today, I received an e-mail from financial aid office, and it is so confusing. It is talking about Cornell’s inability to support that many international students. But it talks as if I am already accepted for this coming Fall. I will copy and paste parts of the e-mail and let me know what you think.

Here goes: "I am writing on behalf of the Committee on International Student Aid in response to your application for financial assistance from Cornell. I regret that we are not able to award the financial aid you have requested … Based on the above information, we must emphasize that you will need to make a decision regarding whether or not to enroll at Cornell with the knowledge that you will not receive financial aid from Cornell University this year or in future years.

If you choose to enroll at Cornell, you must return the Declaration of Finances form with bank verification that funds will be available for your entire undergraduate program before we issue an I-20 form enabling you to apply for a student visa. The Declaration of Finances form is available at …

We are genuinely sorry not to be more encouraging about financial assistance. If you are able to arrange alternate funding to attend Cornell, please confirm your acceptance of our offer of admission and reserve your place in the class within 7 days of this email or according to the response deadline communicated in your official admission letter (whichever is later)."

I checked my e-mail multiple times and there is literally no other e-mail sent by either Cornell admissions or financial aid office. Do you think they messed up and sent this letter to a wrong person (even though the e-mail explicitly mentions my name), and my application is still in the middle of reviewing? Or would it be possible that my admission decision e-mail has been lost somewhere and that’s why I am only getting financial aid decision not the admission decision? It is so weird that I try to retrieve applyyourself.com PIN number by looking it up by my e-mail address (the same e-mail address I have received the above e-mail) with no success.
Is there any other international applicant in a similar situation?

P.S. actually this e-mail is sent by international financial aid’s address, but it says Undergraduate Admissions.

Yeah, it is just so frustrating that they decided to send that e-mail at the exact time they were about to close their offices for the day. Well at least, they did not decide to send this e-mail out on Friday…

Hi guys ! Just wondering if I have to complete the Idoc from college-board if I do not plan on receiving any financial aid?? I have not received an acceptance yet either.

@happyfeet123 about a week later from the decision.applyyourself website. I also got the acceptance in the mail with the same acceptance date as I could log on to the site.

I wish Cornell would get these decisions out already. My second choice school wants me to submit a physical and make a housing commitment in the next 2-3 weeks. Blah. :(

AHHHH!!! Omg I finally received an email from Cornell! They want me to provide further information on what happened in the gap before I decided to return to school…“You clearly grew quite a bit during that time, as evidenced by your vastly improved XXXXXXXX record. We would be interested in what you learned that helped make you such a successful student, as well as how your interest in the Human Development major developed. Any insights would be appreciated. Thank you, and we’ll provide an admissions decision for you as soon as possible.” Now I don’t know what/how much to write!!! I thought I explained all of that stuff in my essays, so I guess they’re just trying to give me an opportunity to give them different and/or more information? I hope I don’t screw this up! Crossed fingers

@CHEhopeful, that is a VERY good sign! Just be sincere, without placing too much outside blame or whining and you will do great! You so deserve to go to Cornell and I can’t wait until you are accepted!! GOOD LUCK!
