4.0 just got rejected, why?
@mrlim9205 Look at what’s common between the two of us…Missing Statics and Dynamics. I’m sure that is why. They’re the only UC that requires them for admission for some odd reason.
Lots of engineer majors have been rejected for missing pre-reqs from all UCs.
And here I am still waiting for my UCSB decision.
@UCorUSC92 Yes, I planned to take those classes before but just scared others UC won’t qualify them.
ive called and asked before. if youre missing required classes, the chances of gettjng accepted decrease significantly because for some reason, UC’s are under a lot of pressure to graduate students in 4 years, and in the case of transfers, 2. missing required classes both sets you back in terms of prereqs at the college as well as course load in the term you transfer. depending on when certain classes are offered at ucsb, if they let you in missing prereqs, sometimes there is only a class or two that youre able to take the first quarter, or the second quarter and so on. so they give a lot more priority to students that will be on “the major track” at the time of admission because it means less registration headaches, higher graduation rates…the list goes on.

Never would I thought I’d be one of the people posting here, but I guess things can really happen over time.
I also want a CS degree as it’s more marketable and I can instill my most passionate subject, mathematics, within it, but I actually got admitted under L&S for math and not CS under their other colleges as planned. I’m glad I got a major that qualifies for STEM, yet I am thinking hard core over the whole industry potential in this major.
Anyone know of anything about mathematics majors trying to find jobs in the I.T. world?

I am curious if there exists a language or generational barrier regarding the term “prerequisite.” I’m old, and getting into the UCs is much harder now than it once was, BUT even back in the day prerequisites comprised the courses you absolutely had to have* to be considered for admission, not just “desirable.” Has something changed? (*top athletes got a pass on prereqs)
@MaMoi77 its both. there are “required” prerequisites and “recommended” prerequisites that are established by the departments for transfer students i think.

@akfieldhockey yeah, it seems like we really are in the same boat. It’s so difficult doing the private --> cc --> UC?? transition because all of the typical expectations and reqs are kinda thrown into this weird gray area where nothing is definite. -_- you said you were still pending though? Best of luck to you with everything.
