OMG!!! I got a FREE RIDE!!! FULL TUITION SCHOLARsHIP!!! Not a penny to spend! wow…im so psyched! UVA HERE I COME! I also got a form to receive a free laptop. Anyone know what that is? Does everyone who gets any aid get this offer?

Congratulations! Was that totally unexpected and based on your FAFSA and the UVA financial form?

it was not unexpected cus my EFC was zero, BUT all my other schools had loans, and work study and didnt come close to free…most gave me 7/10 -8/10 clean…but i mean, free laptop!

access uva basicly gives full rides to people i within 2x the poverty line (so depending on how big your family is between about 40k and 52k a year) and includes travel money, room and board, a computer, and a small stipend for spending money. You can look it up on UVa’s main website.

What is the cost for tuition, room & board for the 2006-2997 school year? I can’t seem to find that information.

$35,879 per year

What about in-state?

Since i got a free ride…i can assume im getting a free laptop (that i unfortunately cant keep)

The website says around $17,000 for instate.

Now what happens if your EFC goes up? ;)

$17,000 including books, etc. or is the $17,000 strictly room/board & tuition?

it includes books, etc

Ok, thanks.

Did anyone else get their package? If so, would you be willing to share what you were offered and your EFC? I’m just curious because I applied as a transfer student this year and money is an issue for me. Also, would a transfer applicant be less likely to receive a good package? Thanks

I have to pay around 5k… slightly less than Hopkins with the full-tuition scholarship. I’m still not sure.

didn’t offer me a penny…

i was offered around 9K… so i have to pay around 9K (i’m in state)

were your offers comparable to what you expected when FAFSA gave you your EFC?

mine was. down to the penny.

When did you receive your award in the mail?
