Official FLVS AP Thread

@machinima: I actually want to speak to my counselor about that, since GPA gets recalculated after first semester. It should give me the GPA AP boost (of 2 points), but that’s just my situation.

Update on my AP Lit course: I have to do 40 assignments by December 20th to finish the first “segment” (semester) on time. I’m switching to English 4 Honors which has a total of 70-something assignments total. Bottom line: Don’t ever take AP Lit on FLVS in your senior year unless you do absolutely nothing in life other than school work, i.e. have a job, friends, a life, etc.

40 assignments? AP geo has about 50 for segment 1 and I’ve finished in a month…

40 assignments left… That’s on top of what I’ve already done since August. Besides, comparing AP geo to AP Lit (or to any English course for that matter) isn’t an equal comparison. There’s a lot of reading involved.

hey, as an avid FLVS fan (keasbeynights inspired me, so i’m going for macro, micro, APES, compsci, arthistory, stats, usg, and calcBC this year), i know that final grades for FLVS are issued upon completion, but are only weighted as honor courses. to put them on your transcript, talk to your counselor. AP credit, and weighing, will be issued once you take the ap exam in may

Man you have your hands full. I’m in AP Comp Sci and just that is time consuming. How are AP Art History and AP Geo?

So how is everyone up to in FLVS?

78% done in Human Geo and going to finish this week (just need to take a few tests), also I’m going for web design 1.

Almost done with APES.

Btw, the segment one exam was not 33 frqs like some people said they were, it was 6 frqs and 50 MC. It took me like 2 hours, not 6. I got an 89/100 on it.

^Good to know. Good job.

@kidfromthebeach - Are you doing all those courses with traditional school or just those? because that is quite a bit of courses to take in 1 year.

How many of you believe that taking the FLVS course alone will prepare you for the AP exam? Do you think you should get a review book along with it? I know exams are a bit far away, but a general opinion based on your experiences so far would be great.

75% done with AP Micro and 72% done with AP U.S. Gov. The instructors said I ought to finish by January 10 so I have 29 assignments to do in 18 days.

I started taken AP Human Geo on FLVS and I’m about 10% done.

Can anybody else provide insight on the FLVS AP Bio course? I’m considering taking it this summer…

Also, approximately how many hours does it take to complete?

How is the class IceQube?
@anmsestudent
How is APES? As hard as everyone says it is? Does the teacher grade really harshly?

Update on AP Comp Sci
I’m 37 percent of the way through. Some of the assignments are kind of long but I have almost a 99 so that’s good. Well, I’m going to go work on some right now.

somewere: It all depends on you, you can no life a week and finish it or maybe a year.

Just a random update:

If you look back to my class reviews on the first page, I said this quote:

To give some perspective, I just finished the programming class at my college for kids that 5’d APCS. I walked away with an A+ in the class, the highest grade on the first midterm, and a teaching assistant job for the class next semester. This class had kids who have significantly more programming experience than I do. I think that my strong results in the class pay testament to just how good of a job FLVS does with APCS. You really, really learn and understand good programming habits, a good coding mentality, and a great conceptual understanding.

I’m always game to help people with whatever questions they may have about FLVS, college apps, life, etc. Feel free to PM me on here with your questions. Especially now that I’m on winter break, I’ll make time to answer them fully.

damn it i need help desperately! im taking apenv and it is a pain in the a** as for AP MICRO and MACRO, its ok and im behind in all three need help!!!

I’m still in AP US History…and let’s just say I’m completely lazy because I’m not a history person. I started in June, and I’m at like…29%. So yeh…they might kick me out because I didn’t reach the deadline? I don’t know…But anyway…APUSH…honestly…is pretty decent. About 3 FRQs and 3 DBQs each semester. Most of the assignments are easy…just time consuming. For me, the only reason I’m lazy for this is because…(I don’t know if this is a valid reason) but history just doesn’t click for me. No matter how hard I try…I honestly can’t do it. And what kills me are the oral reviews! Those are deadly to me… But yeh…APUSH is decent, just time consuming…and make sure you keep up with the assignments.

is it possible for a teacher to kick u out of any AP class without ur consent?

I’m not going to read through ten pages, so don’t get all uptight if this has already been discussed, but can anyone tell me what the general price range of these classes is?

if u live in florida, its free, but im not sure about if you live some place else
