I applied to the college and called today, rejected. I was anticipating this since I am not very “Georgetown” :)

to anyone else waiting, I was told explicitly (a few times, in fact) that decisions will be released on the 1st of June. I only called because I have a deposit due before then

yah, so i applied to the college. my stats are i’m transferring from dartmouth with a 3.3 GPA (i know its low), 2360 in SATs, nothing lower than 780 in three SAT IIs, vice president and treasurer at two different clubs, also on a committee, and did some random ec’s like acting… i also worked every term so far. i got rejected from all the other ivies for transfer, and was wondering if i actually had a chance at georgetown college. has anyone received news yet from the college?

Not that my opinion counts, but I would be surprised if you didnt get into Georgetown. But, at this point, it seems as if no news is bad news from past postings of rejections arriving later than acceptances. Out of curiosity, why are you transferring from Dartmouth?

gs, i got an unlikely too, but i got into many schools that are better than gtown, I put english down as the major too which is quite weak at gtown. i am not sure what they were looking for this year, but i have an itching feeling it has to do with financial aid (i know they claim to be need blind, but they also claim to help 100% need). the other schools have to pay out a huge chunk to me if they accepted me, and i just dont feel gtown wouldve liked to have done this.

i haven’t heard anything yet. i applied to the college but i’d also be transferring over my army rotc scholarship. does anyone know if that’ll help? or because i haven’t heard yet am i dead girl walking?

I got my class evaluation the other day. Most of my courses fall under “free elective” but Georgetown is accepting all my units, and says I have 2 years left. Which is what I was hoping for.

I got a transfer credit evaluation by email and it looks like I might need to take summer courses or something to graduate on time. Most of my courses were downgraded to 3 or 4 points, since that’s their norm. My courses from NYU are usually 4-6 points, so extra hassle for me I guess. As an MSB transfer, I got credit for my core business classes at least.

Does anyone know how much choice transfer students get in picking classes for the fall? I’m guessing the regular students already picked classes so I’d venture to guess that many of them are full.

I’ve been accepted as a (sophomore) transfer, and I just received my award letter today. How has everybody fared with the Financial Aid office? (Granted, comparisons between award percentages are by the nature of their components extremely weak comparative tools, but a general ballpark would be interesting to establish).

I was awarded 64% in grants/scholarships and loans, the vast majority of which of the former pair. I’m paying for college entirely myself, and my GPA, SAT I/II scores, etc. are all very close to perfect.

I was awarded a bit closer to my family’s paying ability, I think. maybe 80%? It’s hard to say because my family’s situation changed and I’m waiting for a reply to my appeal. Otherwise, I think they did a splendid job with finaid. (I’m coming from NYU, so the bar is set pretty damn low.) I don’t think it has much correlation with academic stats, because mine are nothing to brag about and nowhere near perfect.

I just got an orientation checklist in the mail. It looks like one might have to send in the deposit very soon because some program deadlines (housing “Living and Learning Community” applications due June 5th) are before the deposit deadline.

I’ll definitely file an appeal then; my parents disowned me, and neither claim me as a dependent nor provide any sort of assistance beyond the favor of having siphoned off my bank account before doing so.

Hopefully your appeal will be successful. I hadn’t wanted to make one if the package they offered me were abnormally high.
