@jmcdls91 What’s your major and year?

^ Congrats to both of you! I wish the emails weren’t sent out in batches like this… Makes me so nervous!

political economy, entering sophomore! best of luck to everyone!

oh, and for those of you wondering… I talked to an admissions officer today (when she told me I was accepted) and she said the freshman class wasn’t over-enrolled!!

Congrats guys…I received my financial aid info in the mail today, I got the decision on 5/2 to give you an idea of the lead time. Like they say in the letter, they met 100% of need. Obviously there are loans in there with the grant money, but it’s a nice package.

@Buegie Thanks! That helps give perspective on the timing. Do you mind me asking which was the larger amount: the grant money or the loans?

@Real

Grants were about 30k, loans were about 8500, the rest was a combo of work study and the contribution from parents/myself.

@Buegie Wow, that is a nice financial aid package. Congrats! Hopefully I get a similar (or better ) one

Congrats everyone! I’m really happy that you all got into Georgetown! Are any of you guys definitely going to go, or are you all still waiting for financial aid? If someone is definitely going, s/he should make a facebook page for Georgetown 2011 Transfers (if one already isn’t made, of course).

And for us waitlisters, I spoke to an admissions officer today. She said that the freshmen don’t have much to do w/ the transfer students, so that’s definitely a relief in terms of getting off the waitlist. In addition, she said the waitlist letter should be about 1 page, but if you feel like you need to go over, 2 pages really is all you should write. She said it’s very important to remain optimistic and happy throughout the letter–essentially, have a positive outlook. According to her, last year, people were taken off the waitlist, so there definitely is still hope. Lastly, for the waitlist letter, you can mail it in if you want, but if you want to email it, you should email to either or both of the transfer coordinators and, if you want to be extra sure it’s received, whoever is in charge of your school’s admissions committee. The two transfer coordinators and their emails are below:
Kimberly Harves, kah4@georgetown.edu
Colleen K. Miltenberg, ck34@georgetown.edu

Decisions are going to be sent by mail starting May 23rd, according to her as well. Hope all this helps and congrats to those who have heard.

Hopes,

Thanks a lot for finding all of that out; I definitely feel more optimistic now. If you find out anything as the time passes, let me know; I’ll do the same - we’re in this together haha

Whether or not I transfer to Georgetown in the fall is completely dependent on the amount of grant aid I receive. My parents told me they’ll take out whatever loans are necessary, but realistically, we wouldn’t be willing to take out too much in loans, especially since I intend to go to law school in a few years.

Has anyone been accepted to the college who is not a gov major?

@Real

I wouldn’t worry about the aid too much, it’s pretty standardized since they meet 100% of need. In the letter they say they estimate total expenses to be 58/yr. Take away your EFC, work study of about 3500, and loans of about 8500 (I don’t think they can loan much more than that) and Gtown should pick up the rest.

So can I just call for a decision? I’ve got no real extenuating circumstances besides impatience. I’m assuming that they’ve already made a decision for all SFS applicants, but I could be wrong. I’ve been waitlisted twice today at CMC and Columbia and I just want to know my situation more fully so I can accept other offers.

@ Maybe
I was accepted today as a Biology PreMD major to the college.

on a side note, I am so incredibly grateful. I started crying I was so happy. I wish the best of luck to everyone else!!

@Buegie Good to know :)

@Down4Gtown. Yeah, definitely. I really hope we get in! Have you applied elsewhere, and is Georgetown your first choice?

^I only applied to Georgetown, so it’s all or nothing.

Do you think if we have not heard from the college and we applied as a government major that we can, basically, rule out an acceptance?

@heyrokitty
lolol. I like your username
Anywaaaays, to add onto your question. Do people think that if gtown hasn’t emailed you by now (regardless of major), it’s gonna be a rejection or waitlist? In past years, it seems like they stopped accepting people around . . . now.
