@Melissawilliams I was supposed to have a tournament rescheduled from this thursday to then, only to have it rescheduled back to this thursday. I’m glad I don’t have that pressure on me during the match, though!

@Jewwlioonn Hi, I am a parent who peeks in every few days…my son is H SCEA 2019 applicant. It’s funny I am 20X more nervous than he is…not showing it though, ha ha. We’re from South Florida too…where in South Florida are you from @Jewwlioonn? I wonder if you got the same interviewer as my son. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU AMAZING YOUNG FOLKS!! This world will be just fine in your hands.

@tinyone Welcome! :)

@BeachyBunny Ahh that’s awesome! I also tried to teach myself Greek a while back, but it’s pretty difficult. My personal favorites are the Iliad (I highly recommend the Robert Fagles translation) and Ovid’s Metamorphoses. And I think Spanish and French are a great basis to learn Latin. Good luck in your classical studies! :)

@entrebusecon haha I’m pretty sure applicants will have a look but maybe only the last few pages of the thread!
Don’t worry a few days before decisions come out I will repost my post with capital letters so future applicants can notice it lol ;)

@calliemoon11 and @Beachybunny if u need any help with greek, I’d love to… (I live in greece ) :)

hi guys! i’m a new poster to this thread, but it’s great to see all this support! i’m so nervous for my decision, and i’m pulling at any threads of info i have to try and predict my decision/prepare for my deferral. i was wondering if you guys could give your opinions on my situation. my friend and i are from the same town and both submitted around mid-october. i had my interview in early november, and my interviewer repeatedly said that the committee needed the report by nov 14 and was deliberating on kids from our town then. however, my friend didn’t have his interview until right before thanksgiving. do you think this means anything at all? i know i’m probably making a mountain out of a molehill, but i just thought i’d ask for some opinions.

@PcollegegirlP That’s so kind of you, thanks! If I have any questions, I’ll message you :)

Welcome, @swimon89 and @sephiroth0415! @swimon89, how early or late you are interviewed doesn’t mean anything. It all comes down to the interviewers’ schedules! :)

@swimon89 I don’t think that means anything…some people have interviews right before Decision week even. Your situation sounds way better than mine, though, haha. My friend submitted her app 1-2 weeks before me and got an interview in mid-November. I still haven’t been contacted, yet. :’(

Does anybody else accidentally keep thinking it’s THIS Thursday? Just in their minds, not based upon the actual date… hahaha. And then I catch myself, and I’m like. chill girl, you have time.

I saw somebody got rejected today (page 132). Does that mean Harvard starts to send out rejection notification from now? Why does everyone say that the notification date is 11th ?

@2019mom I don’t believe that was a rejection. It was a notification of incompletion, that person should be able to send their SAT in and be considered for regular decision. We don’t know the specifics of the situation though.

On the other hand, everyone else will be finding out on the 11th. Whether you are rejected, deffered, or accepted you will find out on the 11th, the only exception is if you have an incomplete on your applicant status portal. Which everyone should check here:

Also you guys, last year the official email from Harvard about the notification date and the closure of our status portals came 6 days before the notification day last year.

So I am predicting we will get an email hopefully this Friday telling us that status portal will be shut down on midnight on the 9th to decision day. Also will anyone work up the guts to try logging into the Admitted Students login screen if they don’t get an email right away? :)

@youngster9 Hopefully that is not a rejection email.
Where is the “Admitted Students login screen” ?

@2019mom It’s not a rejection email or anything of the sort… It’s an email from Harvard noting the admission decision date/time and telling us that, no matter the outcome, we’re not applicants in the REA stage anymore so our applicant portal will be closed. You can find the Admitted Students login screen on the portal, but it’ll only be open after the decisions come out anyway.

Guys, do you know for a fact that decisions come out on the 11th? Because I saw that they came out the 13th last year!

^^ It varies from year to year. Several people were told by the admissions office it will be on the 11th. Obviously, until the official notification is made, nothing is a “fact.”

@2019mom It was surprising that the poster was outright rejected for having an incomplete file (especially since they attended RSI which has only a 3% acceptance rate). Hopefully, it was some sort of an error.

@sephiroth0415 I’m from Miami, Kendall area to be specific! We probably had the same interviewer if you are from this area also! Good luck to your son he is lucky to have such a caring mom! : D

I wouldn’t look at the dates of the interviews as an indication of a possible acceptance or deferral. The reasons for different interview dates usually have more to do with the large pool of interviewers’ schedules than about the applicants and their schedules. As long as materials are in by the date required by the more senior reviewer, nothing should adversely affect your being considered for admission. Each candidate and region is handled a little differently so don’t worry…

An acquaintance of mine got contacted for a second interview today.

@Benzy50 I’m curious as to why people receive second interviews. Is it a good indication? Or did your acquaintance specifically request for one because maybe his/her first one wasn’t what they hoped for?
