Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

@ACollegec I am curious as well! Maybe someone in this thread can enlighten us.

I’m am applicant from Ukraine. I didn’t have the interview at all. Is it ok?

According to @Gibby in a past thread, “second interviews usually happen because the first interviewer’s report was inconclusive.”

^^ Inconclusive or “on the fence”. You don’t get a second interview if you’re a “slam dunk.”

@MissDianaKhr‌ Perfectly fine, don’t worry!

@gibby‌ I have a friend who still hasn’t received an interview even though she lives in an area with applicants that have already been interviewed. Do you believe there is still a chance she might have one? Or have admissions decisions been decided on.

^^ The interview is thought to be the LEAST IMPORTANT part of an applicant’s file and a good number of students are admitted without an interview. So, you’re friend may get called for an interview or may not. There may just be too many applicants and too few alumni interviewers where you live.

@calliemoon11‌ thanks:) phew :slight_smile:

@jewwlioonn hey that’s cool…I grew up in Miami-Dade County (and still work there) and only moved a few minutes up the road into Broward County (Pembroke Pines/West Miramar) when our son was about 1 y/o, about 16 years ago. So he was born in Miami-Dade County. I doubt, though, that you had the same interviewer because my son’s interview was in Hollywood FL, way up on Sheridan St. The gentleman is about 75 (still practicing ophthalmology)…and oops, full disclosure: Earlier I said I am the parent…I should have said: I am the “dad”. and yes, i am very caring of my kids :slight_smile: Mom, is just chilling and waiting. Good Luck again all, almost there.

Have u guys told your friends that u are applying to Harvard or are u guys keeping it confidential till u get the decisions!
Only my teachers and family know about me, I didnt tell anyone else!

@PcollegegirlP‌ I am a fairly open person, so I told my good friends, teachers, and family.

@PcollegegirlP‌ My family, closest friends, and one of my teachers know!

I told all of my friends. I don’t care if they know I’m rejected because I mean 94% of people are. Plus, they told me where they’re applying. It’s not really a competitive thing at my school. I mean, 4 kids applied ED to Penn and they all had the same interviewer. The interviewers son also attends our school and word got around that they are accepting only 2 of the 4. We just don’t know which ones. They are all still totally friendly with each other.
The bottom line is, most kids applying early to the really competitive schools, even if they don’t get in, they end up getting into another one of their amazing options RD anyway.
there’s really nothing to hide, and it relieves a lot of stress if you have people who can give you some confidence and reassurance. They can’t do that if you don’t tell them you’re going for it.

I told people when it came up in conversation. I thought about keeping it a secret, but I figured it would be nice to be able to talk to people about it if I was feeling nervous (which was, and still is, all the time). People also kept asking me and that made it a little difficult.

(8 DAYS!)

@PcollegegirlP‌ I tried to not tell anyone lol but of course everyone knows now

Hi guys! I’ve been following this thread since like page 50 lol and I just decided to post because I think it will help calm my nerves. I also had a weird superstition that if I posted I wouldn’t be accepted… :sigh:

@amberlee9‌ Hello! :slight_smile: Join us!

I see why u guys told your friends and then again I also understand why some of u didn’t want to tell anyone…
Personally, I just thought that if I told one person, eventually the word would spread… And I wouldn’t want people to keep asking me, it would make me so much more nervous! My friends do know that I’m applying to college but they don’t know it’s Harvard… Lol and they never asked which college… Nobody from my school has ever applied to any of the Ivies! It’s a huge step for me… :slight_smile:
@amberlee9‌ hey , welcome to the thread …

I literally told everyone I knew the day I applied. It wasn’t bragging but I think I thought I would get in until what happened last week.

@PcollegegirlP‌ I will also be the first from my school applying to an Ivy. Good luck!
