Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

@youngster9‌ That explains a lot! :wink:
@frozens‌ Ironic username… LOL SAME HERE I have no clue how I’m gonna deal next year…

My school (rich suburban public) has sent at least one student to harvard for the past 4 years, and according to our naviance our SCEA acceptance rate has been 5/15 or 33% which is pretty good (until you consider that every kid who got in was a renowned genius). As far as i know i’m the only SCEA applicant this year but relative to past acceptances i’m sub-par so we’ll see how it goes. Hope for the best for everyone on the 11th but it is inevitable that late next week will be really emotional both on here and in real life. There will be many acceptances and yet more deferrals from many schools.

I love me some nice crisp New England air.

having my first interview tomorrow D:

Good luck @soapio‌

Don’t stress too much, the interview is the least important component of your application, it won’t be a make or break moment. Stay calm and be yourself!

@jalebigirl‌ D:

@youngster9 thanks :slight_smile: I’m also assuming it won’t count for much since it’s already so late into the game…

@soapio‌ one thing you know for sure: your application hasn’t been discarded yet.

that’s a very good sign as we’re so close to D-day!

Representing a large public school from the land of orange juice, sun, and all things related to political mishaps and voting errors. I’m down for some falling sky cheese though!
@frozens at 60 degrees here everyone is dressed up like Eskimos!

@skslxxbjk‌ Yes, snow is a myth.

@boxofdonuts‌ Where do you click on in naviance to view these stats? I’d like to know my school’s SCEA acceptance rate. Probably doesn’t mean much, but sounds like an interesting stat.

Lol hearing the people from California talk about snow is actually so funny :smile: I’m from Canada and temperatures of -30 degrees Celcius (about -22 degress fahrenheit) in the winter are considered to be “pretty cold.” 5 feet of snow is also not uncommon.

@ninteyneinprobs you can deduce it from the graph…
I’m not sure naviance will give you a specific SCEA proportion though…just overall

@jalebigirl thank you for your sympathy :smiley: i had the same thought process when going EA…unfortunately so did literally the two best students in the school

@soapio ya know, it could be a good sign too! :P

@soccerlover17‌ ooohh tough luck :confused:
at least that proves that they thought you were serious competition!
i’m thinking that the other person in my school who applied SCEA to another ivy was smarter. the Harvard numbers have probably shot up this year :’(

@jalebigirl @easycadence haha hopefully! I did go through a couple hoops to get this interviewer since my original interview was actually supposed to be two weeks ago xD

@boxofdonuts‌: According to Navaince, my school’s Harvard acceptance rate is a solid 0%. As you can clearly see, the odds are already ever in my favor :P.

@Suithiopia97‌ The real question: Are negative temperatures even legal!!! (The real answer: No, no they are not. I am in denial.)

@NinetyNeinProbs when you click on Harvard under Schools I’m Applying To there should be an option in the middle of the page titled “SCHOOL STATS,” which is where you will get all data only for SCEA vs RD from the past few years.

@Suithiopia97‌: Negative temperatures?! I don’t think it’s ever gone below 35 degrees here in my very warm CA city during my lifetime. That sounds terrifying.
@Jewwlioonn‌: I’m totally guilty of dressing up like an Eskimo! Yesterday, it hit a very chilly 55 degrees, and I wore about four layers of clothing and I was still shivering. I don’t understand how East Coasters do it…
