Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

@psjun96‌ i believe the website says BY the 15th, meaning that we will know before or on that date.

ahhh, there are like 4 other applicants in my school and they’re all being so secretive about it. I ask them for help but no one is willing to say anything. I can only trust in my cc family <3

@goodinterrupt‌ oh okay. well i was just wondering where everyone was getting the specific date of 11th from.

@psjun96‌ People called the admissions office and asked. It’s apparently the 11th at 5.

so 2:00 pm pst?

@jk1324‌ it depends on which country you are in! If in the USA, u will be contacted,…have a look at this…
<a href=“What to Expect After You Apply | Harvard”>https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/application-process/what-we-look/interviews</a></p>

No one else applying from my high school. We do have 4 MIT applicants though. I think the highest someone has gone is Penn, last year.

Hey guys. I exist too.

Yesssss! @House17

International. Asian. Goodish SATs. Super quirky essay. VERITAS PLEASE GOD!
Love House jbtw as might be evident from the name :3

I dream about Harvard every night. I imagine the admissions committee sitting around my application saying “Let’s give her a chance!”, even though in reality I know my application has probably already been discarded :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t wait until decisions just so I can stop thinking about it, even if I’m rejected.

If we are deferred in the SCEA round does that help at all in the RD round or no?

@jessdilla2015 last year only about 120 defers for in RD

Got in *

Got in *

i guess my three “second choices” are Stanford, Cornell, and USC

The only information I can find is that ‘slightly more than100’ students deferred from the EA class of 2016 were admitted RD. Did not go back and find out exactly how many students applied EA or exact number admitted EA, because the number of EA applications has been going up and the admitted rate for EA went up last year. I am assuming that the 100ish number is a reasonable ball park number. This article has been referenced before but might not have been seen by all: <a href=“Early Action Acceptance Rate Increases to 21 Percent for the Class of 2018 | News | The Harvard Crimson”>http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2013/12/13/early-admissions-rate-rises/</a>

@amberlee9 - Where did you find the 120 number for EA deferred, later admitted RD for class of 2018?
.
Assuming 120 is correct for EA deferred, accepted RD, out of 3200ish EA that will be deferred next week. You have to make a few assumptions about numbers of applications, EA and RD, and acceptance rates for EA but it seems that the RD and EA, deferred, later accepted, acceptance rates are pretty close. Using the 2018 admitted student profile with 3197 EA deferred and 120 later admitted RD gets you about a 3.8% acceptance rate for EA deferred and a 3.6% acceptance rate for RD (1056 accepted out of 29603 applied RD). Because you have to make so many assumptions, these ball park estimates are just that, but they do confirm that if you are deferred EA you have about the same chance as someone who applies RD. And then there is the waitlist! Wish they would give statistics about how many students are waitlisted instead of just how many were finally admitted.

@numbersfun I believe someone mentioned that number earlier in the thread i did find this <a href=“Harvard Makes Admissions Offers to 5.9 Percent of Applicants to the Class of 2018 | News | The Harvard Crimson”>http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2014/3/27/regular-admissions-class-2018/</a> staying the admit rate for RD along with defers was 3.1%

I don’t think it’s quite sinking in how soon it is.
