Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

I can also log in! @numbersfun‌, why would that call the date into question?

@numbersfun,

Not necessarily. It takes a day or two to get ready to forward decisions to all of those who applied.

It takes weeks to structure a class. I would expect the admissions committee to keep working until Tuesday, or Wednesday.

If the portal is still working on Wednesday, however, then the date has likely been pushed back, but it’s too early to say anything.

@calliemoon11 said on post #2471 that the portal shuts down 6 days before the notifications are sent out.

@numbersfun no, she said that last year the email notifying the applicants of the decision release date and of when the portal was closed was sent out. It’ll probably close a day or so before decisions are emailed.

@numbersfun it’s the same email…or very similar to the one Princeton applicants got a few days ago

If you want something to cheer you up, watch this! It’s so beautiful!

Did anyone else receive a likely letter?

@zerowolf - please explain. The email goes out that the portal is closed and what day the decision will be emailed? I really don’t understand as I thought all of you are expecting the decision on Thursday, Dec. 11 after 5pm est? I am a parent and trying to know when to expect to be supportive or congratulatory. DC is expecting results on Friday, 12/12 but I want to be available if results are on Thursday, so trying to juggle schedule.

@curtains19‌ Did you??

@numbersfun‌ The e-mail we’re expecting informs the applicants when the portal will close and what day the decisions will be e-mailed. However, members on here have called the admissions office, and they’ve confirmed Thursday, December 11th 5 PM EST. Does this help? Best of luck to your child!

@curtains19 They actually send those? Oh, and hello everyone! I also applied to Harvard for SCEA :slight_smile:

@WorldExplorer‌ Hello! :slight_smile: Join us!

Thank you, @zerowolf. Don’t want to discuss this with DC because the pressure is too intense and don’t want hopes to go up that the answer will be sooner. Good luck and will be cheering for all of you on Thursday.

Anybody? Guess the Crimson fever has died down :3

@calliemoon11‌ likely letters are for athletes…its like signing a letter of intent…except the ivys don’t do that so

@WorldExplorer Yes, they do.

I apologize for the length of this post. I want to post it before the decisions come out so when I get inevitably deferred/rejected it won’t sound like sour grapes. So, I go to a private school that has not done traditionally well with ivies. This year, however, we have three highly qualified students (myself included

Harvard’s likely letters are not solely directed at athlete recruits (mostly so, but not exclusively). I can attest to this with 100% certainty. Although for another school, most of this info is applicable for Harvard as well:

Getting closer!

This is the closest we ever were and farthest we will be from D-day :(

@House17‌ And yesterday was our last Friday and this is our last weekend. D:
