Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

I think the most alluring part of getting in is not having to do any more applications (if Harvard is truly your first choice!)

@HobbitTon‌ The most alluring part for me is not having to endure another three months of stress!

@HobbitTon‌ AMEN!

I submitted 6 letters

@Kaisquare‌ i called harvard a week ago about submitting additional docs but she said that she cant guarantee it bring read since the committee is finalizing their decisions. So at this time when the decisions are ready to be released in a few days, any additional letters are not likely to be read even tho your last name is zh.

@seabasstiano I don’t have the same champagne problem of people thinking I am a cert.

Harvard computer had a glitch and released decision to a few students by mistake on 11/25. I got this information from a high school counselor. It does not matter anymore as every one will know within a week.

I am certainly going to place a whole bunch of cameras around my room and record my reaction. I’ll look back at either tears or backflips :)>-

@mindyru 6 letters? Who submitted the extra 4? Just wondering.

Is it just me or is that many more than is typical?

(you called harvard 'bout a week ago? week ago?)

@NoRsinBoston‌ I’m debating whether or not to record my reaction. It could be either a lovely memory or quite depressing.

@Karabekian‌ 1 from counselor 2 from school teachers and 3 additional letters. on the website it says that you can submit 2 additionals but i just submitted all the letters i got from a HMS professor, a doctor I worked for, and a research mentor. maybe they wouldn’t read all of them :p

and yea i called harvard about a week ago to ask if any additional docs are accepted

@mindyru ahh, you are so impressive. i’m sure you got in

=) have a nice weekend

Wooh at least I don’t have as much pressure as some of you do on my shoulders!
Everyone I know doesn’t really expect me to get in. Neither do I. Harvard has just been a name floating around in my head since before I knew what college was, so I gave it a shot.
Yes, I’ve worked hard in high school, and yes, I’ll be disappointed when I’m rejected/deferred, but there are so many great schools out there!!

4 recs: 3 from teachers, one from a research mentor.

@Kaisquare‌ i dont think i will… i lack in many other parts :confused: wow youre amazing!! I’m also and international and I came to the states in my sophomore year :)

Am I the only one that is still curious why Harvard hasn’t released the stats for class of 2019 early applicants? I mean, I know it won’t change anything but… I still wanna know lol

3 Recs for me. 2 teacher, 1 Doctor/physician at a clinic that I’ve shadowed multiple times and knows me well.

Has anyone read their teacher/additional recs? I think I chose teachers that think highly of me…but there’s no way to know for sure!

@jalebigirl‌ I haven’t. I signed the FERPA waiver. (Though I’m quite curious!)

@calliemoon11‌ I did too, but I have heard that some teachers let a few lucky students read their recommendations before they submit them.

I wish my teachers were that nice!

@jalebigirl‌ I hope to be able to read them afterwards. Reading them beforehand could potentially make one more nervous! It should be interesting :)
