@Visionary123 I had the same problem, so I called the admissions office. For me at least, it turns out it was a copy of the email I sent the file room concerning updating info in my application. I’m assuming any email you send to the file room gets put in your file as “Miscellaneous”

@mnrepresent @Visionary123 My daughter also sent an email for adding missing info to her app, but she has nothing under “Miscellaneous”. When she sent email to file room, she did received a confirmed email from Harvard admissions office.

Im a junior, but im so excited for you all!! Fun question, when decision day comes, are there any superstitious things, or just weird quirky things any of you do or plan to do? Anything lucky? Stuff like that?

Only letters or any other sort of documents that do not fit in any other category are considered ‘miscellaneous’ !
As far as I know, It doesn’t have to do with HOW u send in ur documents that puts them in the categories, rather WHAT u send them!

Does anyone know if the app status portal updates the “date received” for act/sat scores? For example, I sent in my Sept. ACT on 9/30 and that’s the date listed in the status portal. I also sent my Oct ACT, but the date is still the same, showing 9/30. I know that it has been sent out because a state school I am applying to received it. Is it treated like other extra items and just not shown?

My interviewer just contacted me tonight…to schedule an interview that’s happening in 17 hours. I’m grateful to get an interview, but I feel like it wasn’t very professional to schedule something less than a day in advance. Oh well! Hopefully she doesn’t rush the interview along too much and it all goes well :)

@2019mom @Visionary123 The email didn’t show up in the portal until about a month after I sent it, so it’s possible that they just haven’t put in the file yet

^ APK I want to know that too. The ACT just emailed me that my score report is ready. Hopefully it’s sent on time.

I actually haven’t really been thinking about Harvard. I’m expecting to be rejected or deferred so I’m focusing on my more realistic apps

I wish I had an interview but I’m also glad I don’t because I would probably bomb it

@Jellybae it’s showing as received in one of my other colleges so I’m guessing it just doesn’t display a new act in Harvard’s portal. Can anyone confirm?

I wish you all the best!!! This thread is helping to keep me sane haha.

@mnrepresent Just wondering, what format and wordings did you use for your update info email to Harvard? I am thinking of writing an email with some updates (both old and new happenings), too, but I am uncertain on how to approach it - especially since they actually count a simple email as part of our application, too.

Normally, I write formal emails. Do they expect me to show “personality” through these update emails, too? And how detailed does those updates have to be?

@PoisonIvy20 I have weird omens every once in a while. For example, I was looking for my keys the other day and I thought to myself “if I find them in my room I’m in, but if they are in the kitchen I’m out”. my mind is playing tricks on me :):

@arielle17 lmao! Hahaha! I’m glad to see I’m not the only one… I find myself doing that all the time…

@PcollegegirlP hahaha I’m so relieved I’m not the only one too it gets a little creepy though !!!
And do you have tricks when you think about the dec 11 and the decisions and you get a little anxious/depressed ? Like do you have some kind of philosophy to cheer you up (i.e “We’re all going to end up where we’re supposed to, so we shouldn’t worry that much about the outcome of the decision” etc…)

@arielle17 - Confidence is not ‘they will like me’, confidence is ‘I’ll be fine if they don’t’. :)

@arielle17 well I do have some sort of ‘trick’ but it never works… I calm down for like five minutes and then I’m dying to get into Harvard again!
What I say to comfort myself is “God has everything in control” or “worrying does nothing, so why waste my time worrying when I could use that energy to do something better” or " either H accepts me or not, I will reach my goal and become what I want to be" or " every hardship/ failure in life is a lesson and it makes you stronger" …Lol but they never seem to work for long!
Lol I find myself googling harvard every few minutes and the funny thing is that I’ve already searched the entire harvard website and there’s nothing new to see lol!
Oh and today I had a virtual harvard tour … Ahh loved it… If u haven’t checked it out, you should!

@PoisonIvy20 I’ll probably just wear as many Harvard/red things as I can before I open my email on the day lol…im a superstitious guy.

Me too. For that reason, I won’t wear/buy any college apparel until I get accepted

@fairyfantasy I think you may be thinking about it too much. Just be succinct, I don’t think they look into it that much

hey guys, less than three weeks away!
just curious, and since we’re all waiting, what’s your guys’ main “hook” or ec that you hope to be the distinguishing factor of getting in? (=

for me, mine’s probably nationals at debate & basketball
