They look at everything! They won’t count you out for a score, def not a 31/32. Although it’s low for harvard and it will hurt your chances, it’s not a no

@clumsy456
I mean my SAT subject tests are perfect/near perfect, but it’s just ACT that’s bring me down. I’m just a bad test taker. My GPA, extracurriculars, essays, recs, and hooks (minority, female) are good, its just that score that bugs me…

@oystershelleatme don’t worry! Harvard doesn’t solely look at grades, harvard looks at the character and what a student can give to harvard! I have read many cases where students didn’t do very well in the ACT or SAT, but they still got in! And I have also read many cases where students scored FULL points and yet they weren’t accepted! They look if you can contribute to theHarvard community! Wish u all the best! Keep ur hopes high!

@oystershelleatme here look at the 7th post of Anna thegreat! Look at the act scores!

Hope this helped!

Thank you! @PcollegegirlP That’s kind. But Annathegreat had special circumstances. I’m also a middle eastern female but I live in the mid west and I go to an all IB private school.

I’m actually projected at a perfect/near perfect score for my IB tests (43-45), but I don’t know. My interviewer told me that I had a very good chance and he actually invited me to this little Christmas luncheon that Harvard alumni do in my state for accepted/deferred students in the early action round. I think that was a good sign? But I’m still hella nervous.

I checked my LinkedIn profile, and I saw that people “who worked at Harvard University” checked viewed it. Oh my gosh, guys! It’s getting real.

Does anyone have an update on the official day and time decisions will be released?

i have the same question as well. What time will decisions get released?

I posted this elsewhere:

As far as I know, that is all of the information we have thus far.

EDIT: Sorry, I misread something. We actually don’t have the ‘by the 15th guarantee’ – Harvard only states ‘by mid-December’ on their site. I conflated the recommended RD application date with the EA decision date.

@clumsy456 You should definitely explain this to your interviewer in some way! If your common app has been submitted, you probably can’t change it now, but the interviewer can help relay the information.

@mnrepresent I probably am… I think I should just forget about Harvard until decision time haha.
@clumsy456 You can just upload a file on Status Portal or email the AO with an update statement. Congrats on your business milestone! You guys all sound amazing!

@HobbitTon - Did you include your linkedin profile on your application? If not… this tells us the AO DOES google it’s applicants from time to time.

@WooTheDay I did include it in my application.

@HobbitTon Ahhh, OK. Eases everyones worries, I supposes. I might have frantically started checking my Twitter.

Guys, is Harvard’s file room and Harvard’s record room two different things, or the same thing? I’ve heard the two being used interchangeably and I’m not sure which I should try to find the email for if I want to send updates.

Hey @HobbitTon do you want to connect on LinkedIn? haha :)

@Karabekian Wow I don’t really get the interest in finance/consulting other than the money involved… The reason I don’t want to do economics anymore is because I’ve done a lot of work experience in finance and I really did not enjoy much of it. I think if I were to take economics and dedicate my life to it, I would be quite miserable lol.

Also, I spend a lot of time researching physics (like watching lectures on Youtube etc.). I find science so much more interesting than anything else, and in many respects I think enhancing our scientific knowledge is vital to prolonging the existence of the human civilisation into the distant future. I’m not sure if you can view it in America, but ‘Human Universe’ was an incredible show that aired in the UK recently and it really highlighted the way I felt. The concluding quote of the show was:

“Science is unreasonably effective. It’s generated knowledge beyond all expectation. It’s also delivered perspective. Yes, we are an insignificant speck in an infinite universe but we’re also rare. And because we’re rare, we’re valuable. So what are we to do to secure our future? We must learn to value the acquisition of knowledge for its own sake and not just because it grows our economy or allows us to build better bombs. We must also learn to value the human race and take responsibility for our own survival. Why? Because there’s nobody else out there to value us or to look after us. And finally, most important of all, we must educate the next generation in the great discoveries of science and we must teach them to use the light of reason to banish the darkness of superstition. Because if we do that then at least there’s a chance that this universe will remain a human one."

Great quote. I’m interested in astronomy, but I want to go into energy research.

@Pcollege Ah, alright, thank you! I’ve still been hearing mixed dates, but I guess Pton and Harvard release decisions on different days. We’ll see.

@PcollegegirlP: I hope it comes at 3:00 EST! For me, on the 2018 thread the first decisions were posted around 7:20 PM and on the 2017 thread it says around 9:00 PM, which of course makes no sense…maybe CC is in a weird time zone for me? I’m really confused haha!

@oystershelleatme indeed she did have special circumstances, nevertheless there are other cases when students have been accepted with the scores you have! And I’m sure you have seen students with. 35 or something getting rejected! And YES, that’s a good sign. Don’t worry, we got less than 3 weeks! u have already done all u could, now we all just gotta wait…
@otter101 well we can’t say anything for sure, guess we all got to wait for Harvard to tell us the exact time and date
@frozens I hope so too! Actually for me it shows 5 , lol I guess it’s something to do with the time zone things!
But Have a look here, at the 800th post… That’s how I found out about the time!
