Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

@oxoxhawja3xoxo‌ it’s not my first time in the States, I’ve been there plenty of times I’ve just never lived there :stuck_out_tongue:
I’m from southeast Asia ( @mimosa26‌ twinz!)

Y’all should consider choosing a pic to replace the default CC one. I think it helps to identify an image with a name.

Guys I made a really silly error. On the common app, I accidentally listed SAT Math II as an exam I sat rather than Math I. On the old applicant status page, Math II is now listed as an ‘unofficial score’. Should I send them an email to clarify the mistake?

oh and I logged on to 176 notifications, crazy!

@Falcon1‌ The move sounds cool! Do you know anything about how that will affect the SEAS department in the meantime?

@tdimo97‌ I am also interested in applied math!

@Jellybae @calliemoon11 What sort of things did you write in your resume? I don’t have any further activities that I would like to inform Harvard of, but I definitely want to tell them more about my EC experiences. Thanks

@AcollegeC Hey that’s cool! We’re not really overrepresented there aren’t we? How many people from your country got accepted last year/last few years? :)

@Karabekian‌ that is actually a really good idea

@ekroxx‌ The move will be happening soon, so some of the changes will include an expansion of the faculty. Some of the new faculty will probably be slowly hired over the next few years, so that is an exciting change! But they haven’t released a lot of information about it. The main change is a completely new campus with modern buildings and places to spur innovation among undergrads.

ok 13 days left

I need Early action stats pronto
hurry harvard gazette! lol

Of all the colleges I’ve looked at, Harvard has the best online store. I particularly like the “Hello Kitty, Hello Harvard” shirt lol. Do any of you own Harvard/other college shirts?

@easycadence I’m actually not Chinese : P It really has crept up on us though! It feels like just yesterday I sent in the app and had the interview. In just two weeks we’ll finally be able to begin to reap the rewards of our hard work.

I just wanted to say guys, even if you get deferred, do not be disappointed. This is the way I will view it.
Just because I didn’t get in does NOT mean that the difference I made in my community was for naught. The simple fact that you were considered in such a prestigious university goes to show that you have accomplished great things. Too many people think that their life was worthless because they did not get in. This is not true. You are all such high-achieving special people. Regardless of where we stand one year from today, keep making a difference. because we are the future. We will be the ones to change the world. The ones to make it better. Do not let this get you down.

^^ with that in mind, this is a great article: http://www.boston.com/mt/yourcampus/college-bound-boston/2013/12/getting_deferred_how_to_handle.html</a></p>

@ekroxx that’s so cool!! What areas of application are you looking at? I’m interested in Economics, Computer Science and Psychology! (I know, not very related… haha)

@thingenthusiast‌ I’ve actually sworn off buying off Harvard merchendise unless I’m accepted! It’s a superstition of mine…I kind of believe that if I buy something that says ‘Harvard’ on it without an acceptance letter, that’ll be the only link to Harvard that I’ll ever have. Wierd, I know.

Guys, I came across this great article: <a href=“For Accomplished Students, Reaching a Good College Isn’t as Hard as It Seems - The New York Times”>For Accomplished Students, Reaching a Good College Isn’t as Hard as It Seems - The New York Times;

It definitely eased my nerves a little… Hopefully it will reassure some of you as well!

@thingenthusiast I’m with @jalebigirl . I will only buy Harvard merchandise if I get accepted. Call me superstitious.

I bought a Harvard hoodie when I went on a tour there earlier this year, but I’ve refrained from wearing it since I’ve submitted my application.

@tdimo97‌ great article! that definitely calmed my nerves a bit
