Official June 2nd SATI Thread

i put dismissive

Who had the math experimental? I spent forever and a day trying to figure out how to do g(x) = f(x+1) + f(x-1) or something like that. And I still didn’t get it. -_-

anyone remembers the Greatest common factor problem?
was the answer 2x3x…
or was it 60? or 30?

i think the question asked for the greatest common factor between what were 450 and 60, which i put 30.

it was 2x3x5

1) for the question with the two sets…were there FOUR terms in X that werent in Y? thats what i got
2) for the question about the difference between the two biographer passages, was it “passage 1 dealt with the lives of famous people (or something like that) while passage 2 dealt with actually writing the biography?”
3) for the question where it said which value of c makes it so no values of x and y would make these functions equal, wasnt it -2/3, because the first eq was 3y = 2x - 6 and the second was y = 1 - cx. for the first, the slope is 2/3 and the intercept is -2. with c = -2/3, the second has an intercept of 1 and a slope of 2/3. this means theyre parallel w/ diff intercepts so they never intersect, making the answer -2/3, right?
4) did anybody else have CR as the second section, and math (w/out grid ins) as the third? did you guys have a writing or cr equating section?

i think the cr section is going to have a tremendously harsh curve…it was so easy. Does anyone feel the same

and the answer was 2x3x5 for that factor thing

definitely not “tremendously harsh”
i think -2 = 800

Juventus + rpgaction: The question about the paragraph on all the stuff in the encyclopedia I think was “discussing variety of topics”. I don’t think the passage ever established that this was during his childhood.

Juventus: I’m not sure which squid question you are talking about, did it reference the two quotes made by the authors? when they talk about how dreadful the squid is?

I didn’t remember the tone of the first sentence question (dismissive) lol, maybe someone can refresh my memory of the other answer choices.

adayinthelife: The Nabokov quote question (contemptuous of definite knowledge) is “overestimate the extent of their own knowledge” mainly because if they replace the old knowledge with their own, they cant be contemptuous of their own knowledge too, which is what that answer choice implied: ANY definite knowledge sucks. Too extreme.

Narrow and biased refers to the narrator’s view of history and literature in the encyclopedia — he was could tell “Western imperialism” had shaped these accounts. I dont know the other choices.

this is ridiculous… 1129 replies? i just want to see if this can surpass the “UC transfer student…” thread on transfer students forum. that one has 9434 replies!

How do you think the curve will be for math?

I know I definitely got the trapezoid one, variable c one, and the -2/3 one (i said 2/3) wrong. Among others.

For the CR, I had the passage about privacy in technology. What was the answer to the question about like the attitude of the big companies in the 50s who said that poisoning of rivers and stuff indicated economic growth? The choices were like a)apologetic maybe?, b) wary, c)?, d) obsequious, e) irresolute.

On Writing, there was one question that was like The first sawmill in the Northwest was created in 18-something, but commerical logging did not succeed there because the distance from forest to market was so great. Anyone remember that one? I wasn’t sure if it was No Error or that “succeed THERE” was unnecessary.

i dont even want to discuss anymore until i get my scores back

haha

I swear that answer was 3/2

I did it like 4 times and I got 3/2 everytime

there was one where 3/2 was the answer (the exponent one). -2/3 is the answer for the no solution one.

ah the cr was moderately hard.

the CR wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t the most difficult one i’ve seen. the math wasn’t the easiest i have seen, but after thinking it over it was very close

does anyone know which one will be the experimental if you had two fill in math sections as 5 and 7…and which sectionw as the the question what happens if you shift f(x) to f(x+1) was that 5?

Did anyone have the experimental writing section? Which one was the experimental?

i think i did b/c i had 2 back-to-back 25 min writings.

no idea which one was exp though.

what were some problems in section 5 will in…does anyone remember any?

"i think i did b/c i had 2 back-to-back 25 min writings.

no idea which one was exp though."

Me too. I’m wondering if it was the first or second one.
