Official June 2nd SATI Thread

hmm i think that was exp. it doesnt seem familiar to me.

i think that maybe you guys are talking about the “puzzling” question. puzzling was the last word of the passage and there was a question about why he used it.

they finally posted the equating sections…<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

what does SPR mean?

student produced responses. it means the grid in math questions.

i had…

Essay

Reading

Math

Writing

Equating (the one that doesn’t count toward your score)

Reading (includes 2 long passages)

Math (includes SPR questions)

Math

Reading

Writing

nooooo… this is NOT good

I got one math question wrong (trapezoids) and probably a couple I made dumb mistakes on, I got at least 4-5 CR questions wrong (can’t beleive I chose nimble-witted!), and I got at least 3-4 writing questions wrong

And, the worst part is that for the questions I got wrong, I had them eliminated down to TWO choices - and in most cases I chose the wrong one…

yeah tapedDuck, that’s what happens to me too. it’s very frustrating.
well math i thought was okay, better than January, and so far I haven’t missed any. However for CR, i’ve missed at least 7 now…wow. Writing is 3-4 as well!

so yes, this is not good at all. =[
wait, which writing questions do you think you missed?

ACT cr > SAT cr

is ACT CR harder than SAT CR…? Is that wat ur implying JWs1555

Nope, its much easier

For the one that was like “life does not meet the standards of good fiction,” what were the other answer choices?

I feel like I probably put the right answer but I don’t remember what I put at all.

Before you answer my previous question:

I think we should all take a moment to mourn for the loss of our dignity.

We are so lame.

Grr… …g.dsg t10char

I believe I put something like, one described the process of writing biographies and the other examined the final product

Another was something like “The first one focused on the lives of the writers, while the second focused on the biographers.”

Maybe? The whole test is getting foggy now. It’s almost Tuesday.

i put what katherine had because the first talked about how boring the lives of the people in biographies were while the second talked about the writer of biographies. at least thats what i thought.

i believe the answer to that cantelope was "The first passage talked about writing biographies on people in generalmente. “The second passage talked about writing about specificially writers”

i actually put that the first one was talking about the biography as a whole and the 2nd one was talking about a subset of biography because it only focused on the writers – not the actors, celebrities, etc.

IT’S A TRAP! I’m almost positive that the correct answer was E) Passage 2 focuses on a subset of Passage 1. (The wording’s a bit iffy, but you get the general idea!)

The sadistic folks who designed the SAT wanted us to think that one passage focused on writers, while another focused on biographers. However, the first passage discussed biographies in general, and the second passage limited the scope to biographies whose subjects also happened to be writers.

Capeesh! :-D
