***OFFICIAL MARCH 2015 SAT (US ONLY)***

Hey guys! I got a 2350!!! So excited and relieved that I’m done with the SAT!
Breakdown:
800 M
800 W, 9 Essay
750 CR

For those of you wondering about the curve, I believe it is 780 for math and 790 for writing for -1. As for CR I have no idea. Also, this was my 2nd time taking the SAT. The first time I got 2210 with 770 M, 720 W, and 720 CR. I stressed way too much and over prepared as well. This time I went in with a cool head. The only thing I messed up on was the essay, in which I had to cut one of my body paragraphs short because of time. If you aren’t happy with your score, you can definitely raise it. If you all need any advice or help, I’m here for you because you guys were supportive of me through the entire SAT process. Feel free to reply or inbox me personally. Again, I feel so blessed and happy.

@icy1998‌ Congratulations! On my first SAT I got a 2270 - 700 CR, 790 Math, and 780 Writing. Do you have advice for getting into that 750 range for CR? Thank you

@vmiller7723‌ I got an 800 CR and I think that the best two things that helped me bring my score up were-- 1. learning lots of random ass vocab, 2. Always looking for exact textual evidence to support my answers and not trying to be “too smart” (ie. don’t think, well this part of the text “could mean” that this answer is correct-- only go for answer choices tied concretely to the text).

This was my first SAT. I was sure I did very well on CR until I found that the one section I had a blast with was an experimental…very unfortunate to say the least. Nonetheless,
CR: 590
M: 590:
W: 670 (9 Essay)
Total: 1850
I am very dissapointed. I was expecting a 1900 at the least, and I was definetely not expecting below a 650 in M or CR. I’m going to take it again in June - my goals are as follows (not exact numbers, but near these):
700 CR, 740 M, and 760 W, to get a 2200. Or, any combination giving me at least above a 2100. Any specific tips for math that someone found particularly useful? I can work on W and CR on my own.

@vmiller7723 Thank you again! That 2270 is better than where I started at! I think you can break 2300 easily because I assume you made a careless error on writing and math and can get 800 on both on a good day. Specifically for critical reading, I downloaded a dictionary app on my iPhone and looked up a word every time I didn’t know what it meant. The vocabulary on the March SAT happened to be quite easy in my opinion, luckily, but always continue to expand your vocabulary. If even a few words that you learned on your own show up on the actual test it was well worth the time. For passages, I like to go through the questions and bracket lines referenced in more specific questions so I don’t feel like I’m staring at jibberish when I first go through the passage. Always stick to the information in the passage, and if you have the problem of narrowing it down to two choices, go with the one that is directly supported by the passage, and if any choice “could” be true it is almost ALWAYS wrong. You have to play devil’s advocate and justify why all but one choice are wrong. There are countless reading strategies, but when it comes down to it you just have to read the passage both quickly and closely while understanding its focus.

For all of you that got a 2200 plus: yes you have the potential to get a 2300. But if you have already taken the SAT twice there is no sense in going for a third with a 2200+ score. No college not even harvard is going to reject you because you got a 2200. (Note I am not saying harvard will accept you because of the 2200; I am saying that if you get rejected it won’t be because of your SAT score). The SAT is a single piece of the application spend your time improving things other than the SAT.

@APScholar18‌ because sometimes it’s nice to understand something? lol.

@errybody
writing curve was lenient, yes? can that be agreed?

Yes the writing curve was lenient I got a 740 with only a 9 essay.

Haha, just realized that I surpassed my PSAT predictor thingy. Excellent. Who’s up for a retake? I think I’m going to be doing SAT II’s around May (see if I can reg after getting the score report). So I guess there’s June…

I got a 760 with a 9 essay, compared to Oct when I got a 710 with a 9 essay (3 wrong mpc)…76 for my mpc. What’s that? 2 wrong? 3? Awesome.

Was the math curve pretty good, then? Don’t usually see a lot of 780’s.

And the CR curve…well. :frowning:

Didn’t study too much, but only increased slightly from PSAT. (10 point increase…)

Oh and has anybody figured out the math curve? I got a 780, which is disappointing as I expected a 800 on this section. Must have made a stupid mistake because all my answers were right when I checked with this thread

CR: 620
Math: 800
Writing: 760 (8 Essay)

Ugh I hate CR so much. It makes me mad because I ran out of time on the first CR section and didn’t get to answer all of the questions! A 700 CR is all I ask… and my essay score was lower than I expected for sure.

I got like 148 on my PSAT and got 1860 and 1870 on my first two SAT attempts just from learning how to take the SAT. I got a 20/32 on the PLAN and got a 30 on the ACT.

I posted my score at 2 am last night but I will repost since I didn’t include my essay score.

CR: 620 (LMAO I DROPPED 100 POINTS. CURSE YOU BENJAMIN FRANKLIN AND YOUR MAPS!)

Math: 610 (lol I have llama-level intelligence with math)

Writing: 670–Multiple Choice: 69 (lol)

Essay: 8/12 (deep sigh)

Composite: 1900

I honestly am really happy because I left the testing room feeling like I got a 1600. I haven’t taken any classes, just took a couple of practice tests and got a 1900 on my first sitting.

CR: 750
Math: 740
Writing: 800 (essay 9)

Hahahahhaa, the essay prompt I got was fricking ridiculous-- I got an 800 anyway, though, even with such an awful essay score. I totally thought I’d bombed the CR because the questions were ridiculous convoluted and the passages were so dry, but I did manage to do better than I thought…must have been the curve. As for math, I’m SUPER disappointed, because I feel like if only I’d been a little more careful I could have hit my target score (I was literally 10 points away…wtf…).

Wait, I thought the vocab this year was extraordinarily easy?? Like, the hardest word I saw was probably like “transport” or something (okay, maybe not really, but the difficulty level was SO LOW).

@proteinshake‌ Same. I was hoping for a 2000. My highest practice test was 2010. I am beyond happy with a 1900 because I was expecting something far worse.

It wasn’t the vocab that was difficult (for me at least). I thought that the passages were challenging because I couldn’t easily single out an answer. I was always stuck between 2 answers. @kalefornia‌

LOL I left the thread at 2 am and came back to 150 notifications

m 740
cr 750 (770 w/ superscore)
w 800 (10E, 79 MC)
2290 single sitting with 2310 superscore!

very happy to be done with this test…someone want to burn their bluebook with me?

@taiocruz‌ do you remember how many no errors you had?
