Wait, there was a tone question for that passage? What were the answer choices?
@CEOSandeep i put useful/divisive but i also was debating b/w the two
@satanxietea although the question was about the theory, the author further elaborates his passsage with examples and mainly the csfhasfgacsky guy’s research, which he appreciates. so i thought it couldn’t be negative and eliminated difficult as my answer choice
@standardizedpest Do you know what most people are saying?" Useful and divisive" or “difficult but worthwhile?”
@CEOSandeep useful/divisive -> supported it by saying the passage gave differing opinions but concluded by saying it was a useful tool or something
lots of ppl did say diff/worthwhile tho
@gkma98 But why useful? To me he concluded speaking against it, stating it to be rigorous and working improperly. Rather, creativity is creativity, regardless of critical acclaim.
@satanxietea Did you put “difficult and worthwhile” also?
What were the choices for the tone question for that passage?
@satanxietea if the author is mentioning several accounts of people as well as the czech professor’s research, he would think of it as something to be done, wouldn’t he? If he was against the entire defining act itself, he did not need to proceed the passage itself. Also, if the process is indeed “working improperly” shouldn’t it be useful to define it?
again, just my opinion
@FloridaBoy954 isn’t useful similar to worthwhile??? i think the whole part that matter is the “difficult”, which can’t be just implied because he mentions another person
I felt it was difficult but worthwhile because of the praise he gave the czech dude for coming up with a definition of
creativity
@CEOSandeep No, I put interesting but futile, or pointless. To me, the answer choices containing worthwhile and useful both implied that the author agreed with the theory but the way I read the passage this was untrue. The author beings talking rather critically of the system, and lists several examples somewhat assertively to demonstrate how it is flawed, and the idea that one is only creative when they fit others views. He then goes on to say, most of us believe this is a poor way of judgement, and then says, but still others “maintain”, and then describes the theory, indicating he finds it unnecessary because creativity is always creativity, but interesting because he speaks somewhat in depth about it.
I am not saying I am right but that is why I chose my answer.
@FloridaBoy954 agree with you completely…same reason why I chose difficult but worthwhile
can someone tell me if i should cancel or not… this is my second time taking it (1st time was 2200)
i think i got lk 3-4 cr wrong, 2 math, 3 writing, probably 9-10 on essay
@CEOSandeep No one knows anything about the curve.
Anyone remember the choices for the tone question in the creativity passage?
@standardizedpest If I were you I would not. Even if the curve is somewhat against you, you would be looking at a 750 math, 750 reading, and 710-730 writing. Provided your estimates are correct, that is a score of 2210-2230. And in all honesty, a 10 essay is really not that difficult and there is a chance you scored higher, in which case you would be over a 2250. I can’t say how well you wrote your essay, but on my last SAT, my essay was slightly poor, and I scored a 10, so I wouldn’t give it up yet.
@satanxietea I also put interesting but futile. To me the author sounded like he thought trying to define creativity was pointless, although he seemed to find it interesting since he wanted to write an essay about it. I did not get any impression that he thought it was useful or necessary.
I said interesting but futile for the author’s opinion on the whole creativity definition. The passage made me feel like the author didn’t think it was useful or worthwhile since he criticized it…
@satanxietea thanks for the estimate, i really hope i do well
idk if the curve for writing was really amazing last time i took it but i had 2 wrong and an essay score of 9 but i got a 780, which is kind of ratchet
is there any chance at all of getting over 2300??
whoever has it, could someone pm me the google link please!
@standardizedpest I am afraid not. Of course the curve is not totally predictable but the test was not extraordinarily hard. Even if your predictions are absolute, and with a 12 essay, the highest I could see is a 2290. To score a 2300, not only would you have to be entirely correct, but the curve would have to be incredibly favorable.
And what test did you take, lol. I scored a 10 essay, had 4 wrong, and received a 720.
