*Official May 6th SAT Discussion*

i put “encountered” cuz he didnt just observe it, after meeting it, he took it back with him and stuff. he didnt just observe it, it was… an encounter

sounds like extraterrestrial… an … ENCOUNTER!!! dun dun dun

I put presence because it’s like cheetah’s “noble ____”

second, they just finished talking about making Namibia be aware of the cheetah’s presence by putting it as it’s national animal…etc.

wait…
scary2hairy- so my answer was right?

wat did people put for the 1st question on the painting 2 passage comparison?
it asked which was the difference between the 1st passage and the 2nd passage?

thank you earth-dragon for the explanation

does anyone remember the 2 short passages about the internet boom?
Was the 1st one’s tone more negative?

That one was really easy… It was like, Passage 1 incoroprates two adult views of a painting, and Passage 2 is a child recollection, or something like that

withonevoice, nice i got that =]. however, it was based on petty evidence. did it even say that the second passage why by a child recollecting? or was it just implied from looking to grown-ups for courage?

I put “got a hold of” as the best choice for the pepper question. It seems to make more sense to say that someone “got a hold of” a new type of pepper than to say that someone “encountered” a new type of pepper. Also, the paragraph emphasized the power this new pepper brought to merchants, so “got a hold of” seems to fit best.

I think I put encountered.
I’m not sure it’s really the right word, but “got a hold of” didn’t sound very SATish…

hey for the noble_, i put demeanor,
in the beginning of the passage, they were talking about how graceful the cheetah is
and the answer i put that asks the difference betw the 2 passages is like" one is from a more analytical view point, the other is from a child view point"

what is the question for bearing

and what are the chioces

demeanor, or presence

PLEASE answer to my question…

Do you guyz remember the question with two short passages that dealt with science? Passage 1 was mainly about science and passage 2 was about a person blah blah blah…

Anyways, the second question was like
“How does the [the person’s name] respond to lines [something] in passage 1?”
a) agree with evidence support
b) agree blah blah blah
c) agree blah blah blah
d) disagree blah blah blah
e) disagree blah blah blah

What did you guyz put? I think I put either a) or d) but I don’t really remember… guyz HELP!!!

disagree, that’s the scientist that said anything spiritual is unscientific or something like dat

yah, Vinny on the A…B…100 question it didn’t specify integer, odd, or anything. I remembered to check for that after I answered “II” only, but I got lucky when I re-read it and the question didn’t specify.

Does anybody remember the critical reading question about the little girl? It had something to do with her being ____ inside and then going outside and becoming intractable again. I think I narrowed down the answer choices in the blank to taciturn and docile, I chose taciturn because I couldn’t remember what intractable meant. Anybody else remember this question? What did you guys put?

I think it should have been Docile.

This was disscussed several times so you might want to look for it.

Docile is the exact opposite of intractable … and hence the right answer.

What’s the difference between docile and taciturn?

Also - in the maths what does it mean when they put two vertical lines around an equation (each | x-2 | or something)? Are they like brackets or… never seen those things before in my life.

the lines signify absolute value, so after you solve everything inside, make your answer positive if it’s not and don’t do anything to it if it is.
I am very disturbed that you’ve never seen that before - what grade are you in?
