we heard from our president today that louisiana was 206…hopefully its that instead of 207 b/c i got a 206 and he congratulated me…i will know for sure next week

I’m 100% sure that it is, in fact, 206.

Johnson181…are you from Louisiana?..i am from Jesuit High School New Orleans…we were told 206 so I hope and pray that is it…we have 39 semifinalists this year apparently.

somebody please update louisiana to 206 on the next big list

LA was already updated on the list. You’re school always has a ridiculous number of nmf’s each year… (I’m a 504 repper myself) it’s a good thing my school can’t really be compared to yours.

When you say IN <= 214, does that mean that the lowest score reported has been 214, and it could potentially be a few points lower? Or does that mean the cutoff is 214 for sure?

^exactly- it’s less than or equal to

It’s if someone was notified that they made semi with a 214, but were not told the minimum cutoff.

Is the only notification semi-finalists receive through their schools? There’s not a letter or something that is mailed to students’ home addresses? That seems a little silly…

This is from two school counselors: Delaware 219, Hawaii 213. The Texas number being given her may be off by a point - it may actually be 216 but that does not come from NMS, just a school counselor I know in Texas.

I’m from PA, got a 213. Missed by one. I ask my self, I went from 208 soph yr to 213 jr yer, but my math went from 72 soph yr to 67 jr yr. Dammit squared.

Well I got a 2270 SAT tho, and I’m looking at Ivys and they couldn’t give a hoot if you’re a semi or finalist anyway. Rat farts

Updating with above info and bringing it up a page…

AZ = 211 -3
AR <= 201 -5 (questionable - see post 111)
CA = 217 -2
CO <= 215
DE = 219 -0
FL <= 212
GA <= 215
HI = 213 -5 (huge drop?)
IL = 213 -5 (huge drop, this is questionable)
IN <= 214
KS <= 212
KY = 208 -4
LA = 206 -3
MD <=221
MO = 211 -3
MS = 202 -2
NY <=219
OH = 211 -4
OK = 207 -1
PA = 214 -3
TN <= 224 (sorry, I know it’s not much help)
TX = 215 -2
WI = 210 (confirm?)

Link to previous year’s cutoffs. Beware, the list is missing updates and there may be errors:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showpost.php?p=2993607&postcount=662

It is definitely 215, not 216.

Does anyone have any information about the IDAHO cutoff?? The link to the chart with the previous year’s cutoffs is missing Idaho’s for last year also. Suggestions on how to find out the cutoff number if my school has no info. for me?

My D’s counselor said they will not release this until 9/12. I am looking at the pdf link provided above, but it does not specifically say when students should receive notification. Other jurisdictions released info to their students last week!

I have a call into the principal–any links I can cite for him? Thanks for any help.

I just got official word from the Principal. Thank you Proudparentof4, Shutterbug and TexasBandDad for your encouragement. I can also confirm the TX cutoff is 215 because ds scored 215.

Knowing DS’s school, we will get the info a week before it’s due. He is reasonably sure to make it in NJ with a 230, so my question is–what’s the essay question? When DD wrote hers in '04, it was about career goals, I believe. I’m just trying to prepare him–since it looks like pulling all his application essays out of him will be painful!

Yes, if anyone has their packet yet, I would really like to know this too, what is the essay question? My son’s school is doing it like everything, backwards. Filling out the school stuff as opposed to letting him work on his. As I understand it, he is supposed to get it until about Sept. 14, then they have until Oct. 12. They will probably give it to him the day ir is due or something. They told him when he was taking the AMC 12 the day of the test, the AIME the night before.

I appreciate all the reports. DS’s school doesn’t start until 9/4. I’m pretty sure he won’t get any notice until after that. Fortunately he’s well above last year’s cutoff so there’s no suspense.

For everyone’s benefit, my S told me that essay is to describe yourself in about 500 words.

Also, IL is 213 confirmed, even though it is saying questionable due to 5 point drop.

The student essay prompt is titled “Essay about yourself”. The prompt then continues:

In your own words, describe your personal characteristics, accomplishments, primary interests, plans and goals. What sets you apart? Your essay should be about 500 words. Write in black ink on this form or securely affix a computer-printed copy with non-glare tape. Material exceeding this space cannot be used.

The space on the form into which this essay should fit is ~ 8" high by 6 5/8" wide.

Thanks so much guys.
