This is a delicate topic. Both sides have valid points. Putting down somebody who has had a less than optimal result is not a good idea. However, they also need to learn to take a loss, give up, and fight another day.
Everyone stop. Everyone just stop. CC is not like this at all. I think A LOT of you need to cool down and step away from this thread until your emotions of euphoria or dejection settle down. This is enough you all. Going after each other post after post, it’s ridiculous frankly. This display by some of you is why CC has a bad rap. Please, everyone just chill
Thank you.
@emenya This is exactly what CC is like. Friends and I joke about how hostile the community can be and how it’s a place to go to feel bad about yourself.
@emenya thank you
lets all eat ice cream and get off CC. Now I don’t have ice cream, but I can do the second part!
Or we can try some of that “tea” that @CaliCash has been drinking
Rejected! I don’t think my supplement was very good. I didn’t take the rejection too hard since I have UCLA. Oh well I still have 5 more colleges to hear from. 2130 SAT 32 ACT 3.95 GPA
@CaliCash alright, fair point that the person who claimed they were overqualified was not very nice.
As much as I’d like to say you’ve learned your lesson after apologizing, “chugs down rest of the cup” doesn’t sound like it. You’ve just proven again that people on the internet can sometimes be quite uncivilized.
But let’s let this go. You got accepted, be grateful and drink your tea quietly. No need to be pushy about it.
No idea how this happened but I got accepted… Congrats to anyone else who was accepted! Anyone from Los Angeles?
Yall are a mess. Rejection isn’t fun. It’s practically grieving when it’s from a school you’ve fantasized about for the past year or longer. If a rejected applicant posts something that unsettles you, ignore it and move on. I prefer laying in bed in sadness but we’re all trying to deal with it.
@laurenc96 I am! I live in Oxnard (Ventura County) now, but I’ve also lived in Seal Beach and Pasadena. I’m floored that I got accepted.
@Jamesesesess I’m super sad that you aren’t coming after going through the torture twice. Not sure if it helps, but I feel for ya.
@JoeGoe Yay! Congrats and enjoy the rest of your senior year!!
You know what? Deleting.
Accepted! Anyone know when the admitted student days are?
@kuleczka Wildcat Days are April 6, 13, and 20. Congrats btw!
Rejected, unfortunately. There could be a billion reasons why, but I think the big reason was a lack of interest. I live nearby and didn’t visit at all, so that probably did not cast me in the most positive light. While I think my Common App essay was on point, my NU supplement could definitely have been better.
Regardless though, congrats to all those who got in! NU is a crazy difficult school to get into and is also one of the best schools in the country so an acceptance is definitely a great thing to have. To all those waitlisted or rejected, there are definitely other, perhaps better, options for y’all out there so I wish y’all the best of luck in the next couple days and weeks; the college game isn’t quite over yet.
@ikadiggit Aww, thank you
it does help. It’s hard to figure out where I went wrong when I was good enough to be deferred, which they don’t seem to do to too many applicants, but obviously they had thousands upon thousands of equally and better suited applicants so there’s not much point in dwelling when there’s nothing that can be done
Enjoy your time at NU!! I may end up trying to transfer at some point… all depends on where I end up. Well, if the only school I get into is UW-Madison, I might be forced into a gap year because that will end up costing more than what Northwestern would’ve cost me, and I can’t afford very much. In which case I would obviously take advantage of every day to do something meaningful and re-apply ED next year. BUT, if I get into UMich, none of that matters because I love that school!
Rejected, but it’s been real NU. Congrats to everyone that got in and I hope you guys make the best decisions as to where you go to school. I myself have a couple more schools under my belt so it’s safe to say that all our hard work over the last four years is paying off!
@Jamesesesess Your outlook on the whole college admissions process is incredibly mature and thoughtful. It is truly Northwestern’s loss. I wish you the very best of luck with the rest of your college decisions
To everyone accepted, congratulations!!! Haha I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit envious of you guys right now. NU is an amazing institution, and you’ll have a fantastic 4 years there!
All those asking Wait list questions - NorthWestern’s common data profile states it accepted 14 students off wait list out of 1606 that actually accepted a position on wait list (0.87% chance). This wait list is not ranked and there is no further college specific info available. Hope this helps.
