only for RD
Waiting for Northwestern’s financial aid package is like seeing the presents underneath the tree but not being able to open them yet.
Anyone know when/how we receive our financial aid information?
God I’d really love to go…let’s hope I can afford to.
@dopamine17 I was ED. I only know what I know from what the board members on the Facebook group have said and from reading the new student stuff on NU’s website.
@thesocialnetwork , NU Financial Aid web page says letters will be mailed March 30. http://undergradaid.northwestern.edu/ Wish it was sooner, too – DS was accepted into NU Bienen School of Music but not Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. We need to see financial aid to decide vs. local university.
Not sure how accurate this might be, but I talked to an admissions officer yesterday and he said that we would receive decisions about two weeks after admission. It sucks though, since I was accepted into Notre Dame and Davidson yesterday and heard back from FA today
Did anyone else NOT receive an email about the admission decision? I don’t know if it’s because I was deferred and already had an account or what, and I didn’t get anything in my spam folder either because they’re on my contact list. If I wasn’t on here I would have no idea that my result was posted…
@Neurogirl07 Just out of curiousity, where did you find that statistic?
@aalewis I got it from the letter that said I was waitlisted
accepted!
@Neurogirl07 the wait list letter is actually misleading - while there are only ~1000 spots left for RD since half the class was filled by ED, NU still has to accept more than 1000 students for RD since not everyone who’s accepted will decide to attend
Northwestern actually accepted ~11% for RD applicants (I did the math) http://dailynorthwestern.com/2015/03/25/campus/northwestern-university-acceptance-rate-class-of-2019/
http://dailynorthwestern.com/2014/12/16/campus/northwestern-admits-nearly-half-the-class-of-2019-through-early-decision/
Did any deferred students get accepted RD?
@Jamesesesess I never got one either (RD applicant - waitlisted)
My D was deferred and then accepted
If it makes waitlisters feel better, NU accepted 216 fewer students than it did last year. Obviously, this doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but I feel like it can’t be bad. Good luck homies!
Has anyone received Financial Aid information from Northwestern yet? My DS is unable to activate his NetID with the credentials he was sent, so we are currently not able to check if they have been posted.
@Aammppeerr I haven’t gotten any FA info yet. Maybe it will come with the admissions packet in the mail?
Thanks! No, the admissions packet arrived here yesterday and contains information to create an account. When the Financial Aid information is ready, it will be sent by mail, and it also goes live online. The credentials they sent him for creating an account aren’t working though, so I just wondered if we were missing anything. If those results haven’t been posted online yet, I don’t think we need to stress too much while they get his account working.
Did Northwestern offer to fly out all admitted students for them to stay with a host or just some? How do they determine who gets to fly out and who doesn’t?
I didn’t know that NU offers to fly out any admitted student to visit the campus. @CaliCash, do you mean NU would pay for fly out? Why would you think that?
