thanks so much @Pokerworld. the whole process has helped me understand the admissions process more. each college has their own criteria & mission, and i fit much better into mit’s!
Aside from academics and the whole shebang, I’m soooo happy about the generous financial aid provided by NU (and other schools of the similar tier) that dwarfs what my state schools offer.
Hey guys! I got accepted into the engineering and communications dual degree program for Northwestern!
Does anyone know how difficult it is to score a scholarship at NW or when scholarship announcements will be made?
@yalebound2020 Congrats! What weekend were you invited to? I got lucky and was invited to the 17th-19th (the other possible weekend clashed with a visit to ND)
@Peggy1897 They coordinate everything for you. Transportation, food, schedule, and where you stay.
@yalebound2020 @alamom Perhaps they’re making a shift this year. Congrats yalebound
Last year, not a lot of students got offered. I’m from an upper income family.
@CaliCash I may be mistaken, but wasn’t the free flight offered for diversity applicants last year?
did acceptees get an email from their regional admissions officer(s)? based on the beginning of the email, i thought it was gonna be something personal lol but it was v generic. i live in south texas btw.
@eyesight2020 Yes, I just got one too! It was generic (At least they added the first name in the beginning :P) but I still think it was a nice touch.
@desie1 Yes, you are mistaken.
The acceptance rate dropped to 10% this year! Congrats to all who made it in
on top of that, the Regular Decision acceptance rate was roughly only 8.3%!!! Major congratulations to all who received offers!
Does anyone have problems with looking at their financial aid? Mine says the information is unavailable…
@dominoesniall Mine says that too. That’s because it is unavailable. NU changed their mind and said they’ll start releasing FA beginning Monday March 28, instead of yesterday as they previously stated. If you check their undergrad financial aid website, it says it under Announcements.
So far, I’ve seen that a few people did get theirs yesterday, but I think most of us wont get it until Monday at least. Which sucks because I was really looking forward to getting mine yesterday.
I got my FA notice yesterday. They were much more generous in grants than the other universities I have heard back from so far!
@ronniecat Oooh, lucky! I have to wait two more days. But yay that’s awesome!
My FA is available. Not the best of the other colleges I have received this far.
This might be a dumb question: should parents come to Wildcat Days? I’m assuming so but I want to make sure, haha.
@ThatPeprika my financial aid is still unavailable but I’ve sent in all forms for CDs profile and completed the fafsa
@dominoesniall Well, the announcement says FA will be available beginning March 28. Meaning, that’s the start date for when they’ll start releasing FA (though some did get theirs earlie than today), but not everyone will get theirs today, I assume. I also haven’t received mine yet.
