** Official Northwestern Class of 2021 Discussion Thread **

@indiaaa7 I was reading last year’s forums and they did the forgot your password thing and it was fine

oh okay, thanks @ths17112

Lol I submitted my ED app 10/14. Thought I was going to apply dual degree music and bio but got rejected for music (it was a long shot anyway) so now I’m thinking about majoring in Biology and minoring in Cognitive Science. I’m anxiously counting down the days until December 15th! When Chad the admissions rep visited my high school he said there was a chance that the decision would come out beforehand but I emailed him today and he responded saying that neither he nor the Dean of Admissions knows when they’re coming out because Operations doesn’t report to them.

So does the decision come out on the 14th or the 15th?

@Vlau0707 there is no definite date but last year they came out on the 14th sometime in the evening because people started posting their results at 6:30 pm in last year’s ED results thread. the year before that people didn’t post results until the 15th around 6:30 pm. on their website (http://admissions.northwestern.edu/apply/early-decision.html) it says the 15th so I guess we’ll just have to keep checking our emails!

Northwestern is the best of both worlds. In a college town next to a big city, NWU has access to prominent internships without losing a sense of community. It has strong professors and classes, but gives the students flexibility to take classes across different schools. For example, I am interested in stats/Econ but I also want to take classes in poly sci, journalism, comp sci, and business (Kellogg certificate). It has a rigorous curriculum, but offers big 10 spirit and access to world class athletics and arts in Chicago(I.e. Chicago cubs baseball and the Art Institute). It offers hundreds of different organizations from the happiness club to chess club to the ues society(undergrad economics), yet still offers plenty of fun (30hr dance marathon+dillo day +frats/sororities if you are interested). The campus is beautiful, and it’s just a half hour subway ride into downtown Chicago.
From talking the admissions reps to students to tour guides, the only downside is the weather. So if you can’t handle frostbite, don’t go to Northwestern. Otherwise, you know you will love it like me.

@ths17112 Thanks!

How am I going to study for finals, it is so hard to conviene myself stoping thinking about NU. Honestly the worst thing might happen on Dec 15 is not a rejection letter, it is a disillusion that I over think of myself and to accpect my “safeties” are actually my target schools

I understand the stress that everyone feels right now–I mean, we have all stepped outside of our comfort zones and undertaken a challenge–to be judged and evaluated by one of the most prestigious universities and most of us took it a step further by asking them to review us early as our number one choice!

Truly, the “worst thing” that can happen is a rejection letter, @Zpower99 but think about how much we can all gain from this experience! We have the opportunity to grow, expand, learn, love, think, experience and breathe like we never have before. I challenge y’all, dream of acceptance. You miss 100% of the shots you never take.

I agree. This whole experience, by itself, has made me grow so much. And it is amazing to be able to talk and stress about this admission process with such talented, hardworking individuals

@whatsamania you are right! Thanks a lot!

I am supposed to study for my Calculus final, but here i am at College confidential…

just to add onto @letmein321 's post…

I guess these dates are our options! I’ve been reading through too many threads… The things you do at 2 am when you’ve got finals coming up! Anyways, good luck to everybody!

Here is a post from last year’s thread, so does this mean acceptances can come out way before the 15th?

I really need to study for my finals but I’m here again

@Vlau0707 I definitely think that the decisions may come out before the 15th. I think it all depends on how many people applied and how fast the admissions officers can get all of the decisions done. Thank you for the information. I will begin my descent into stress overload on the 9th. Better stock up on milk and bread.

@Vlau0707 I guess that means they can come out before the 15th but I don’t think it’s very likely that we’ll get them too much before the 14th or 15th because the last 2 year’s results have come out on the 14th/15th and there is a larger number of applicants this year than in the past so it’s probably taking them longer to review the applications

That’s what I thought

Guys, my birthday is on the 14th, and if decisions come out and I get rejected on that day, I don’t know how I will take it.

I’m in a perpetual cycle where I get excited thinking about how i’ll react if I get selected and then remind myself to expect a rejection and so on and so forth xD
