@flysaex congrats! that’s great. when did you submit your app?

@mccubsfan REALLY. WHAT. #impatient

I think I finished the app maybe a week before May 1 but I didn’t get the “your application is complete” email until after the 1st.

Best of luck to all of you!!!

@flysaex Congrats! do you mind posting your stats? Hope to be there with you!

Ahh thank you!!! I hope so too. Here are some brief stats, with not too many identifiers:

Accepted into: Medill School of Journalism

HIGH SCHOOL

COLLEGE

Recommendations: Out of the water great. In fact, they’re probably what got me in/made me stand out; a Northwestern journalism professor wrote me a rec (he supervised my fellowship work over the winter at NU).The recommender from my school also really supported me throughout the process.

Essays: Very good. Not mind-blowingly awesome, but I put a lot of thought into it, didn’t take the traditional essay format route and got people to read it.

Hooks: Definitely the recommendations, and the fact that I could relay in my essays that NU was THE place I wanted to be, because I’ve been to NU multiple times, during journalism camps, internships, vacation, etc.

Negatives: Came from a school where EVERYone got stellar grades, and I didn’t have straight A’s or anything. Got rejected during the freshman round.

@flysaex

Congratulations!!! At least one of us got into Medill. You must be so happy and honestly looking at your stats you deserve it. Best of luck to you… and hopefulyl i´ll hear back soon too, even if it´s just a rejection.

Anyway, I´m really happy for you… just WOW!

Accepted into: Weinberg

HIGH SCHOOL

COLLEGE

Recommendations: Probably not super great, but probably pretty good. I had two recs sent in.

Essays: IMO they were good. I think NU knew that Northwestern is the only place I wanted to go to (my dad had communicated with NU for the past few years). I definitely made that evident in my essay by demonstrating extensive knowledge and interest in their pre-med. I conveyed what I would bring to campus, in particular, and showed how I would use NU to affect things I cared about.

Hooks: Probably the recs, the legacy (family went there and worked at a affiliated hospitals), the essays, and sheer luck

Negatives: GPA

I’m worried that, now that they have my final transcript, they might change their mind on me. I did better first semester, but even then my first semester grades weren’t good. First semester was a bad and second semester was worse. The classes I took from other colleges brought my average up. I talked about how my current school affected my academic performance. What’s the chance I’m rescinded? I have no idea why I was accepted earlier than most (last week) and don’t even know why I was accepted. What’s the chance I’m rescinded?

@flysaex Your stats are ridiculously amazing. there’s no question that you were accepted. I know this is the most trivial question, but around what time did you receive your email (chicago time)?

@inspirose I don’t think you’ll be rescinded. If there was any question of your acceptance, they wouldn’t have sent it as early. Congrats!!

For those who have been accepted, did the details include that you were accepted into a specific major, or just the school?

@YalieGirl thank you!! and don’t lose hope, you really never know with these things. I hope we can transfer together :)

@Inspirose I doubt they would rescind their decisions. They usually reserve that for extreme circumstances – for example, you went to jail or got caught cheating. You got in for a reason!

@shelberrto Thank you! I received my email at 3:38 p.m. CST(that’s the time zone for Chicago right?) Also, the email said what school you got into, but not major. Now, I guess it’d be sort of obvious what major I am since it’s Medill, but I don’t think you’d have to be accepted into a major, since theoretically you should be able to change that whenever according to your coursework.

@shelberrto and @flysaex
thanks for the response! i doubt it’d happen too, but it makes me not want to tell any of my friends that im transferring haha. i wonder if i could call any ask if they already re-reviewed me and are not changing their mind? lol

@shelberrto June 5th 3:11pm CST. And I agree with what flysaex said.

@flysaex wow you have very impressive stats. congrats!

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!! Just so you know, there is a Northwestern University Fall 2012 Transfer group on Facebook. If you are interested and can’t find it, message me and I will send you the link!

@creativedrafts I’m of course going to ask the most trivial question again, but how many people are in that group already? I know i’m overanalyzing everything, but it puts me at ease

Update: Got an email from the Transfer Credit Evaluator with a Transfer Credit Evaluation.

This is starting to feel a whole lot more “real” now! :D

Lucky. I was accepted May 21st and still have not received my credit evaluation.

@littleindia70 haha wow my luck is going great this summer then. I’m sure you’ll get it soon. Congrats btw!

@shelberrto, only 2 people including myself as of yet! I guess Facebook groups aren’t cool anymore or something…

Well, this sucks. I’m guessing those of us who haven’t heard anything yet may be getting rejected…le sobs why do the do this to us?! DON’T GIVE ME FALSE HOPE, JUSE REJECT ME STRAIGHT OUT. My mind is constanly flipping: 1 minute I think I stand and actual chance and the next minute I’m kicking myself for being unrealistic. Omg, NU c’mon!
I have to put some of my plans for next semester on hold until I hear back from the schools I applied to. THIS. SUCKS.

@cluelessbelle why don’t they just reject us all first? but for real, we have stuff to plan if NU rejects us. my fall semester is all lined up but if i have to figure out an NU semester instead… i can’t do that in two weeks. i’ll be studying abroad all of july in a country that might block NU info. c’mon!

@hashtagadrienne: So true! I’m already enrolled in classes for next semester at my current school, but I have yet to sign a lease for housing because I’m still waiting to hear back from NU and the other school I applied to. If I sign a lease now, then break it because I got in to the other schools, it’ll cost me some major cash, which is what I’m trying to avoid. If I push it too long, then I won’t be able to get good housing and may find myself having to commute everyday (yuck!)

Don’t think you’re getting rejected yet! When my sister transferred, she was accepted in late June.

Hopefully we all hear back soon so that we don’t have to keep waiting so anxiously.
